Just received a glossy Heritage packet regarding the sale of Canadian coinage at Sept. Long Beach. Is it sound logic to consign a quality piece that's missing from the core collections on the theory that the auction will attract the big $ buyers? Or is the market for Canadian too thin to absorb such a great volume of coins without depressing prices?

If the coins you're thinking of consigning are scarce dates or conditions, it sounds like a good idea to offer them at a sale like that. Common coins may be overlooked, though.

I noticed that one of the two 1876 Newfie 20 cent pieces in AU did not sell (the one in AU53), though. It's a scarce coin, and it appears it didn't meet the reserve. I guess there are no guarantees.

I just received the info. too. There are some amazing coins there. If I had coins to sell I'd try to get them into the same sale. Reason being those looking for this material are sure to see yours, unlike if you list it later or at another un-publicized time or event.
