    Wasted talent for sure.

I spent a few paychecks back in the day hoarding his rc's, now they just sit in a box collecting dust.

This happened a long time ago. Just another sad quick end to so much promise.

Not only was he hotter than all get out but it was during the "RC Craze" era!

Topps was hot in 92 with the "gold" parallel set - I want to say he was #6 in the set.

The Topps Factory set with the Brien Taylor RC auto card was going for some righteous bucks.

Glad I refrained from buying it.

I do have the auto in a Classic Club Card tho.

Well, it's all part of the deal.

In 500 yrs. maybe gold won't be worth squat?

People were paying sick money for the gold auto that was inserted into '92 Topps gold factory sets. Another example of why you should never invest in young pitchers.

edit: Stone beat me to the punch.

If any of you have heard of NAEIR, you may already know this. They are a company whose mission is to serve as a clearinghouse for companies to donate goods to. Naeir, in turn, gets the goods to non-profits for a nominal handling fee. Anyway, a year or two ago they sent my non-profit 12 cases of 1992 Topps Gold sets (144 sets). I remember when they were high too. We ended up giving them to residents of our nursing home who gave them to their great-grandchildren I believe. How much would 144 Brien Taylor's have gone for in the day?

  • Another case of a million dollar arm and a 5 cent brain. Then again, it seems like there's one of them in every draft...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

I have the 93 Big Beckett in front of me...

They have the Topps Gold auto Taylor listed at 135$ Mint.

I was thinking that guys were asking about 150 - 175$ at shows.

So $20,000 worth of Taylors...once again, could have used that time machine. Maybe we can all chip in and buy one.
