Is 4 Sharp Corners trustworthy?

I've gotten some PSA graded cards from them in the past, and when I mix them in with the PSA cards that I've personally submitted, I can usually tell the 4sc slabs, as they're the ones with the frosting, cracks, and bits of chipped off plastic along the sides. Usually, I'd suspect that these are signs of tampering, but these aren't vintage cards, they're late 80s, early 90s junk that I picked up for <$5.

I haven't submitted a ton of PSA cards, so I don't know if slabs that look like this are par for the course, or something worse.

I've receivd the odd slab from them that is scratched or nicked, but not what you are describing. Do you have a scan so we can see what you are talking about?

I buy from them all the time and have never had a problem.

I think what he is talking about is the middle of the side of the holders, Sometimes small "splinters" can develop there for different reasons. i have several holders with this type of splintering, some bought some self-submitted.

I'm going through a situation now where they sent me two incorrect cards. I feel confident they will make good, whether its tracking down the correct ones that they shipped to someone else, or via refund. My only problem with them is not combining shipping across any of their numerous id's.

Yeah, the oddity I was describing was along the edges of the slab, where it looks like the two pieces of plastic come together. Seeing the splinters, I figure I could probably replicate the same type of "splinters" by wedging something in there to pry it open. I'll see about posting some scans tonight.

    4SC is fine.

Ok. It makes me feel a little better.

So, how often do you notice nicks and fractures in the plastic on the sides of your known-legit holders? Is it common?

The Splinters are a pretty common occurrence, Probably caused by not being sealed perfectly or an undue amount of stress on the holder.
If the slab had been tampered with enough to get the card out, the whole holder will frost over and there will be no doubt as to tampering.
Someone who busts slabs regularly probably has some pics of some they have busted open for re-submits somewhere.

  • along these lines, could someone please post good detailed instructions for removing a card from a psa holder and other grading companies without damaging it (the card)? thx

I've received around 10 graded cards from them.. only complaint is that they don't combine shipping between all of their user id's even when the cards are being shipped from the same location.

There are many threads and posts regarding removal from the various holders. Do a search and you will find all the info you need.

If you're going to pry a slab open, you'd most likely break it from the top - not the sides.

I bought a lot of 55 graded cards and 7 were cracked or broken, bought another lot of 80 and 5 were chipped or broken. I think people think sometimes that the holders are bullet proof and maybe they don't get the care that an unslabbed card might get.

I got one broken holder from 4sc out of maybe 40 or so that I bought.

    They're trustworthy in my experience

  • I have never had a problem with any of their accounts.

Never had a problem from them, I think out of the thousands of cards submitted there are going to be some flaws on the holders. I actually had one, can not remember who I bought it from, that was misaligned side to side. You could actually see if you looked at the bottom of the holder that the bottom half was off to the top. Though somehow this did not affect the card inside.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I just got some messy slabs, that's all.

I just wish they didn't enhance their scans:

If you weren't sure, check out the PSA label. That's some brightness enhancement if I ever saw it.

1 of several reasons I outright refuse to buy from them.
