Anyone have recommendations for a reasonably priced hotel close to the convention center?

    Gem,

I'm afraid there isn't much in the way of "reasonable". I don't live there but I did some pretty decent research. If you're a AAA member, you can get $152 per night at the Marriott, right on the Convention grounds. Pretty much everything else decent is at least $90-100 and not as close..or as nice.

a few of my friends have had success in the last week using priceline in the Anaheim area, offering $65. a nite for a 3 star, and all getting rooms.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I managed to get in at the Super 8 for $58. Not the Ritz but I'm not picky. image

There are also plenty of Hotels along Huntington Beach with a view. Cheaper than being next door to the show and only minutes away.
  • $12 for 24-hour parking lot fee. Two pillows, recline the seat back...just like the Ritz.

  • You can stay at the Hotel California

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
    There she stood in the doorway;
    I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

    Welcome to the Hotel California
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

So I called up the Captain,
    'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty
    nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
    Just to hear them say...

    Welcome to the Hotel California
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

    Mirrors on the ceiling,
    The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'

    And in the master's chambers,
    They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
    Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
    'Relax,' said the night man,
    We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
    but you can never leave!

I was thinking about my one and only National that I attended. I did a search and found this archived NY Times article on it......

The convention has an exhibition of sports memorabilia, such as baseball cards and uniforms. Hours are 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. today; 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. tomorrow, and 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. on Sunday. Admission is $3. Information: (914) 739-0161.

1984 doesnt seem so long ago but its been 22 years for me. I still have all those autos that I got from the players mentioned above.

I meant that was 22 years since I'd been to a National but I suppose that didnt come across in my comment.

I wont be able to attend this one either with my recent promotion. Just too much on my plate right now.
