CHINA KWEICHOW Y-428 1928 AUTO DOLLAR

I paid $1265.00 for the uncleaned VF specimen in the Heritage sale the other day. I also paid a little under 500 bucks for a specimen that looked like it may have been cleaned a long time ago at a Stacks sale last year. Here's one on ebay that I don't think I'm going after.

Anyone else?

I saw that one in the Heritage catalog... I just saw the catalog... This coin is tough in high grade. I think you did well.

  • I would have never known how many collectors seek these coins if not for this board. Personally, they don't appeal to me, but dang, there's alot of people for whom they do.image

Thank you! I'm a little surprised at how much the one on ebay sold for.

Hey Roy, I haven't seen enough of these to really differentiate the striking characteristics, ( yet) and think that XF-40 is somewhat high. What do you grade it ?

    << <i>What do you grade it ? >>

    I would give it a low-grade F or a high-grade VG, but then what do I knowimage

The nicest one I've ever seen in hand (at the Long Beach show a couple of years ago) had some detail on the car doors and much more on the hood, so I know the problem with this one can't be attributed entirely to the strike quality.
