This is my first detector and I was going out to buy the Ace 250 as it seems to be highly recommended around here. But no one local carries it.
So as I intend to hunt around our camp alot and the streams there I went with a Pioneer 505 as is states it is waterproof (coil) and even submersible.
Plus it was there and in stock so no waiting 10 days to ship.
Do you have any opinins on this detector. Another plus is it is from wal mart so if I don't like it I can return it.

Just the old saying----You can't find anything, unless you take it out and play with it ! ! !

If I had one negative thing to say about it, I thought it went through the 9-volts rather quickly.
Don't get discouraged early on, learn as much as you can about your machine, read the forums (Including the Bounty Hunter forum), and get as much experience with it as you can. Once you become "One" with your machine, you'll be fine.
Personally, I think it can do about 80% of what many Whites/Garrett/Minelab or other higher end brands that are far more expensive can do.
