Information please: Pics of Small "S" and Large "S" MM on 1880-S Morgans

I picked up these two Morgans and noticed quickly the size difference between the two Mint Marks.
Is there any information regarding these?
Small "S"
Large "S"
I also placed the coins next to each other for a closeup of the mint marks.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated!

Update:
I think my 1880 big "S" is a VAM 56. VAM 56 has the big "S", correct?
I think I can see a microscope with photographic capability in my future.
