1945 Netherlands East Indies year set.

OK, I have this friend who is recently into collecting coins. I just helped him find interest in Franklin halves so hopefully he will be on his way to doing some "real" collecing of real coins and quit buying the cheesy franklin mint stuff and the like. Anyway, he has this set of coins here that he insists is worth some big bucks. I brought it home for him so I could scan it and share it with you all Anyone have a ball park value for this set. I placed a red "X" next to the uncir. coins of the group. Thanks much.

IMHO , His Franklin buys have gone up more than this set and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. I counted 5 years and don't think it is a year set. I'd say a type set maybe. Big bucks ??, depends on your aspectimage this group might bring $50 on a good day , to someone who needs itimage Again IMHO! I did a quick Krause check and the best coin there was less than $40.
  • I don't know what kind of big bucks he's talking about. If he thinks UNC world coins are scarce, this is something I picked out from a dealer bargain box:

Corrosion here and there but you can still see some red. Cost? 30 US cents. Now I want to know what kind of price range he has in mind. Perhaps the whole set is indeed worth more than $8.40, but 3 figures? Nah unlikely unless there is a rare variety or some lowl mintage etc.
