How many ID's?

How many ID's does Ebay allow one person to have these days?
I was under the impression that it was 1. I see people that obviously have atleast 3. Is this the norm nowadays?
Just me, but if it is..I don't agree with it.

DING, DING, DING!!! We got a winna!!
And I thought I was being vague lol
I've got 3 of the ID's identified. Not only do I think it's wrong..but I avoid this seller mainly because 99.9% of his graded stuff is very OC and certainly doesn't look like right.
I don't know, maybe it's just me..but I tend to question anyone who lists graded stuff in bulk like that. It's starts sending up all kinds of red flags.

Classic. I deal only with their ID located in Tahiti. Get's me some foreign stamps to go with the cards.
Anyway. I have two IDs. One to buy and one to sell. I don't sell many cards anymore, just those left from upgrading a set.
When I sell sports photos (my main Ebay product) I would rather not have my seller ID and buyer ID the same. It helps when buying new slides and negs for my collection and inventory.

Let's see...
4_sharp_corners
4_sharp_corners-2
4_sharp_corners_store
4_sharp_corners_baseball
making_the_grade
newenglandsportscards
newenglandsportscards2
Did I miss any?

Jeff,
I agree that 2 ID's are "acceptable". But it is a bit questionable when anyone feels the need to have 4, 5, 6....ect ID's.
Not much can be done I suppose. I just choose not to buy from them and go about my business. I guess this was just a pet peeve of mine that built up and needed to be vented lol

4_sharp_corners-2 was 4_sharp_corners_football
newenglandsportscards was 4_sharp_corners_hockey
newenglandsportscards2 was 4_sharp_corners_basketball

There is no limit on how many a person can have.
You just can't bid on your own items.
All I can say is WOW....I can't believe Ebay allows that nonsense.
Why do you call this nonsense?
What is wrong with it?

3 for destroying those who have screwed me over.

Some have same paypal accounts and some have single paypal accounts.

The ones I have used always use the same paypal.
eb31,
Why do you think it is nonsense?
Think about it. It's more money (selling fees, other fees and etc...) in ebay's pocket.
I don't see anything wrong with it.
Same Paypal acct for my buying/selling IDs.
No Paypal acct. for my 3 other IDs as I plan not to pay anyone.
You can have as many IDs as you want. Each one just needs a unique email address. ebay says it's perfectly okay as long as your IDs do not interact on the site.
I have a buying ID, selling ID, and posting ID. Some people like to have a couple different selling IDs for various types of merchadise they sell.
Some like to have a super-secret buying ID that their friends and family don't know about so they can buy gifts.
Lots and lots of reasons to have more than 2 IDs.
There is NOTHING wrong with it.

It's simply my opinion that "seems" shady..to me atleast.
And especially when it applies to certain sellers (like the one originally mentioned).
<< <i>You need to have the super secret ID to buy all the Girls Gone Wild videos and assorted items that the wife and fellow board members might find a little bit odd. Are you trying to say that some board members would be offended or look at me differently for my 3am purchase of "Big Bad Biker Mommas on Crack part XIII" ?

I guess I'm a pessimist because I've thought the only reason anyone would want another ID would be to shill one's auctions.
WOW! I have always received my in boxes and always packed with bubble wrap.
<< <i>7???? I knew of at least 4. Agree alot of their cards are not "sharp" and we see how they can make their money. $3.50 to ship one card and $1 after. Without delivery confirmation you can send one graded card anywhere in the US for .87 cents. And let me tell you they do not package their cards in any special way. Just throw them in the bubble mailer and off they go. Needless to say I will not buy from them again. Respect the card, respect the buyer. >>
Amen to that.
As I said, I avoid them strictly because of red flags. And this quoted post about their shipping just adds to that. I am not knocking anyone who buys from them..just stating my opinions.
<< <i>3 for destroying those who have screwed me over. >>
Do you take requests? There is a guy I would love you to neg.

Actually, you can send a graded card with delivery confirmation in a bubble mailer for only 77 cents.
I can't believe they still adhere to this no combined shipping policy - I haven't bought a card from them in almost 2 years, but I would have bet they would have changed this by now. Especially when you know all the cards come from the exact same location.
it would be a pain in the ass..
ebay doesnt provide a way to do it..
actually, to use their wording and capitalization... they CAN NOT and WILL NOT combine shipping.. still, no need to yell is there?
<< <i>i certainly dont blame 4_sharp for not combining shipping across their ID's..

Sure they do. It's called using one ID for everything. Funny how DSL gets by just fine with one ID.
Good Question.
What's up Pimp daddy?
Many have a buying, selling and posting ID. I also have an ID I use should I want to buy something for my wife or something that I don't want her to know about.
Well played pa, you slick basstard. Fellow board members- commence with the unpleasantries.

I'm very sorry but I think that's Game, Set and Match.
If ebay allows you to have more than one name--then 4SC is doing nothing wrong. If you don't want to buy from someone because ebay allows this, that's up to you. As for me, i have had no problems with their service. Infact they are better than most at getting your product quickly to you. The only gripe i have is the same as everyone here says, no combined shipping. If you don't like a card because it looks O/C and it's in a 9 holder, shouldn't you be blaming PSA? How is this 4SC'S fault? If you don't like it don't buy it. But don't bag the seller because you don't like their "PSA" graded card.
'I guess I'm a pessimist because I've thought the only reason anyone

While there is a broadly held view that there is a lot of shilling going on,
the #s from eBay do not support the notion. (They will not let us "look"
at those numbers, but I believe that eBay is telling the truth.)
Most of us think that eBay should make their "venue" more secure and be
more protective of buyers/sellers. There are reasons to be afraid of eBay,
but shilling really is not one of them. The guys that work on that "problem"
have "Pentagon-grade computer skills," and they WILL catch anybody
that engages in the practice over a period of time.
I have lots of anecdotal evidence that it is NOT POSSIBLE to sustain
a serious "shilling scheme" for a long period of time on eBay. It can be
done for a while, using "friends" from far away, but they WILL catch you.
Their software looks for patterns in under-bidders' activities. The software
can identify separate phone lines and isp/ip addresses in different units in
the same commercial/residential buildings.
The LAST way in the world to do it would be for one person to use multiple ids;
INSTANT capture.
eBay does a lot of stuff wrong, but "shill-detection" is NOT their weak spot.
Also, NONE of the dealers that most of the people on this board know and
discuss, would EVER risk the penalty. That is not to say that any of them would
do it if they thought they could get away with it, BUT they do KNOW that the risks
are too great and that the chances of getting away with it are slim and none.
