Let's try this again

Okay, for anybody who did not read the post titled "A Group Purchase" let me fill you in. My name is Ryan. I am new to the message boards and feel like I have gone to trial over the past 2 hours. Luckily, I was found not guilty and have been able to make peace and hopefull form my newest group of collector friends. I think it's fair to say that they won't forget who I am.

I am currently living in the Phoenix, AZ area. There is a lot on ebay #8818010402. The sellers name of this lot's name is Ryan as well. It is purely coincidental. It is a good deal on the surface and would make for a nice group purchase but there is lots of red tape to cut through. I have been in contact with the seller of this lot and he is a fireman in Glendora, California (los angeles area). The first thing that is needed before a purchase to this magnitude is made is a person the lives in the Los Angeles Area that has time to go look at this lot. The next thing is needed is buyers. He has lots of Mantles and a Ryan rookie. If you are interested in picking up a Mantle/Ryan/ect... below SMR from this lot let me know which one or group of them. Personally I am more interested in the '33 Goudey's in the lot. There are all T206's in this lot along with other nice cards. The way I will subdivide this lot will be to label each card individually with it's SMR value. Here is how it will work.

Cost of lot/SMR Value Of the lot = X X will probably be about .65-.75 (this means that you will get these cards at 65-75% of SMR value possible more/less I'll do the math tomorrow. The X times the SMR of your cards. There will be a small shipping charge.
.
If this is confusing and you are interested I'll explain more throughly in the future.

This is not a set deal and I will not make this purchase if I don't feel 100% confident that everyone is getting a fair deal.

Please do not respond to this post unless you are interested. I have a complete understanding that there are a lot of possible blunders in this purchase that is why it needs to be done carefully and somebody in Los Angeles needs to look at the lot before the purchase is made. Feel free to leave me a private message or e-mail me at incugator@hotmail.com if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from many interested collectors. This could be an opportunity to get a great deal and start a new way to utilize these message boards. All transaction will be made through ebay and/or paypal to ensure everyones purchase safety. There are people that are skeptical about this lot and I am well aware that there needs to be a lot of backround checked into this type of purchase. Every effort will be made to ensure that safety. Thank you for your time.

  • Just in case you didn't get to read his first post.

    A group purchase
  • Wow...and I thought I was stubborn.

Ryan, nobody is falling for it. Perhaps it's time to retire this plan/idea/scam...whatever you like to call it.

Let's not and begin the weekend on a positive note.

I'm working on purchasing 20K worth of 83T unopened wax. Anyone want in on this deal of the century?

I figure we all stand to lose most of your money since we'll be giving it away to a virtually unknown person who lives in a virtual world, but hey what's life without a risk?

I'll throw in a case of 87T wax to the first three investors.

  • I don't know crap about collecting old cards, but I do know BO and BO says read below.image

This is how I look at it. I come here to get support and these Veterans here on these boards know their stuff.

If I was a betting man I would take their advise.

Most of these guys have been there and done it.

    That's good enough for me.

PS. In the short time I have been on this board I have found out that you can't get too much past these old veterans and I don't mean military veterans.
  • Now back to my didtheyreadit.com

Look at the times all of the emails were open.

I believe they do know each other.

The times are to close together... during that time of day.

Almost it looks like 3 different reader from the seller's email address read it. 3 different IP addresses

My emails to both guys were one liners, no need to read again. (maybe)

but, after I posted the information (my didtheyreadit.com)(Friday June 02, 2006 2:40 AM ) to the first forum, it looks like maybe this guy called the seller and told him to check on it.

If I had the money, and collected these cards, I would not go for it.

    That's just my two cents.

i concur on this. the message was read 3 different times all from different locations (maybe the same person going to work, home, elsewhere). regardless of location i'm following markj on this one that they do know each other. not a coincidence that this guy wants to splurge 20k within the first 45 mins of the auction.

    Ryan -

    Don't PM me again.

You do not want to know where I live, what sports interest me, what I collect, nor will you "talk to me later."
  • This is a rough crowd. I guess there is no making peace with you, but I would like to try. I admit that I'm persistant, but I am no criminal. I don't deny that this deal sound shady on the surface, but that doesn't mean that you have to complete discount me as a person. I don't think it is fair.

I am seriously interested in the card shows that you attend and your interested in So Fla baseball.

Maybe you missed some of the clues but I suggest you give up for now. Possibly you would have success to try again in a few weeks with a new name, new icon, etc.... In the meantime please spare us any more pathetic posts. You are either 1) a scam artist or 2) a very stupid person. Possibly both 1 and 2!? Regardless, get a move on. Bye bye. I think it's time to put a fork in it?

You had a good run and this was, at the least, entertaining.

But, as I said - this is, at best, a very naive proposal and, at worst, an apparent chance to defraud.

    Have a good weekend.

    Hello Group,

I did some home work too. I used one of my programs and traced the IP address from the seller's account.

This is what I came up with.

All three were open from three different locations around the USA.

I have been on this board long enough to have seen characters like Ryan come and go.

Even on ebay, we learned of a good doctor that passed away and someone was auctioning off his investments of baseball cards and coins. I forget what the seller's name was... something like Outdoorsman.... Anyway, there was a lot of auctions going up, but one of us did a search on the doctor and found nothing. Any doctor that practices for 40 years should have some trace. When asked where the items came from, the seller was very defensive. To make a long story short, a bunch of us got together with the coin guys and all of his auctions went Poof! There were hundreds of auctions and I am glad they were all gone.

There have been other characters that directly solicited fromt this board much like Ryan is doing. I forget all there names, but there is always one of us that outs them. One time we found a guy through an arial photo. He had claimed he was a business man starting a new grading company and wanted our feedback. Later we found him to be just a college punk living in a dorm.

Another time, NickM outted a guy that was on here....can't remember his ID on here.

the list goes on and on.

I have to admit these posts have made for good reading! Stone said it best, Ryan is naive at best, a scammer at worst. With his level of persistence in the face of scorn and disbelief he might have a bright future in Amway.
  • i've only been on the boards a couple of months, but i am also in for a buck. Please accept that my buck will be coming from 10 differnet people, $.10 each. One of them has found 10 people to invest, so they will each put in $.01. Hope this works...are weat $20k yet?
