anyone help ID this one?

Obviously it is from nepal, and represents itself as a 500 Rupee. It's large, fat, and appears (if it's a coin) to be proof in appearance.

Can't find it in Krause... I came across it in a large auction a couple years back, and I slapped it in a flip, and labeled it 'unknown to me'. image

Any thoughts would be appreciated it.

The only 500 Rupee with a ceremonial vase is the 1989 KM#1166 it was in proof but did not have a denomination.

No, that's KM#1166 all right, year VS 2046 (AD 1989). CV $45 in Unc. What's throwing you out is an error in the catalogue; Krause seeems to have put in the wrong picture. Look closely at the pic - the denomination is an "asarfi"; only gold coins are denominated in asarfi.
