Soooo How about them Tiggers...Err Tigers I mean...

Although this season has been a truely remarkable one already for the Tigers, I do believe the next 2 weeks will show if they are real or not. Going against the Big 3 of the AL East. Welp, they haven't exactly gotten of on the best start, to say the least.

BTW-Go Yanks!

Ax, c'mon now, maybe gloating isnt exactly the best of moves, but even you have to admit that if the Tigers had taken the first 3 games of the series there would have been post after post after post of people rubbing it in.

Yes, its sooooo terrible to be happy your favorite team is doing well! Shame on you ToppsCo!!!!
  • Ax-Where's it written a winner has to be gracious? Is it the chivalry of competition? Lol, today thats found as often as a player who won't sign for the biggest contract offer on the table.

Bri-That was point exactly. Had the Tigers came out and just won Game 1 there would've been multiple posts and possible threads praising the Tigers and bashing the "Evil Empire" Yankees.

Yankeeno-I don't mind anybody praising there favorite team or even teams that your not a fan just b/c there doing well. But lets face it, there isn't a team rooted against more often than the Yankees and had the Yanks even just lost the first game of the series we'd be reading about it for quite a while.

Exactly ToppsCo....and as much as being the team that is rooted against more than any other, my guess is that they are also the team that is rooted for the MOST. Everywhere in the country there are Yankees fans!

There's a difference between rooting for your team and pissing on someone else's team.

And the yankees SHOULD be beating the snot out of everyone, shouldn't they? I mean, just compare payrolls, all stars, all that other stuff. And you're bragging about beating a team with less than half your payroll?

    Talk about pathetic.

topps comes on here, running his yap about how they are the 'tiggers', 'his' team goes out and chokes away a 5 run lead.

Way to be a good sport, sparky!

Oh and the disparity in payroll over every other franchise (including said Tigers) has nothing to do with that confidence?

    Riiiiight.

  • It doesn't. This current Yankees is less of a team I've seen since the Lakers with Malone and Payton. I was a much bigger fan when I was younger of the Yankees. I guess some guys out there really don't know there stuff. I mean Moose, A-Rod, Giambi, Sheff, and Matsui haven't won us no rings. I'm not a bandwagonner buddy, I'd rather see guys come up through the organization and succeed than go off on other teams and do it(Ala Lowell, Buhner, Soraino, and Pettite for recent examples). I like that some guys were brought in, but the team has lost its sense of "team" but I think this rash of injuries will provide the team with a huge confidence boost as they work through it(Sheffs out for a while I think, torn wrist ligaments).

How about getting owned on the Registry board?

Axtell runs at the mouth and is set straight

How about getting owned on the Sports and Mem. board?

As usual Ax brings politics into the picture and is asked "who is really the arrogant one?"

    Now those are pathetic.
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
Owned on the registry board? Owned, what are you, 12? Was stingray 'owned', too, because of the miscommunication? Where's your 'stringray, you were OWNED!' thread?

As far as the olbermann thread, someone calls him out as 'arrogant', of course its because of his politics.

Dude, you are so damned pathetic. Get a life!

  • SoFLPhillyFanSoFLPhillyFan Posts: 3,931 ✭✭

I believe that numerous others will contest that it is you who needs the life.

You criticized, as usual someone's sarcastic comments about selling a collection. It was an inside conversation and here you come looking to blast someone with your ethics and values. Funny how you blast teams for spending money on players, but then support individuals who sell collections for high prices. Take your pick. Yes you were sent a message..butt out you don't know what you're saying. Stingray? The miscommunication was obvious. You were your usual self. Keep testing the better collectors on these boards. You'll be out of here in no time.

Arrogance does not require political overtones. Look at you. You're arrogant simply because you're an ass.

Go back to your schoolwork lackey.
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
    SoFL-

Your zeal with which you pursue your attempts at insulting me are humorous, albeit pathetic.

I made a mistake in the registry board, and I pulled away from the conversation...hardly 'owned'. Stingray made a similar mistake. Where is your hounding of him?

And who ever said arrogance needed political motivations? At this point, you are flailing around, desperate for anything to boost your standing in this debate. However, it's all for naught, as you are an idiot who has no idea what he's talking about (as usual).

And what exactly does someone selling out their collection for money and praising that have to do with a baseball team overspending every other team? It's a flawed analogy (but then, your entire line of thinking is flawed, so I shouldn't expect too much out of your tiny brain).

Look, I criticize the big market teams (specifically boston and ny) because they overspend for talent, they lure away home town players with bigger contracts than the small market, hometown teams can afford, and for polarizing the baseball world into 'haves' and 'have nots'. I have never criticized them for playing in the rules. I criticize them because they are ruining the game that I love.

Now, that you've been 'owned', get back to washing your employer's sports cars that you purport to 'own'. We all know you're just his chauffeur.

Now, back to work, sparky! Those cars aren't going to clean themselves!

My employer happens to be the U.S. Commander in Chief, that's President Bush for those in Modesto. I may not agree with every policy of the U.S. Government but serve well when required.

My work involves heading toward trouble (as in hurricanes, natural and man made disasters), while others are running from them.

You couldn't clean my boots let alone handle some of the s--tstorms I have been in. I'll look you up when the big quake hits Modesto. Help you wipe the spittle from your mouth. That's what you socialists require of us federal employees right? Take care of you and give you everything that you need since you cannot or will not provide for yourself?

That sir, is arrogance courtesy of me and you have only scratched the surface.

It's nap time Ax, sweet dreams.

No you did not 'miss anything' You did though, as usual, add to what Toppsco said. he made no mention that the three listed guys were around for 5 years (or for any amount of time for that matter) What he did say was ( and he listed 5 guys) "I mean Moose, A-Rod, Giambi, Sheff, and Matsui haven't won us no rings."

How you got from there to :Hmm Matsui has been there 3 years, Sheffield 2, Arod 2.

Hah you know nothing about me, so please, quit making assumptions sparky! You think you're billy bad ass, when, in fact, you haven't a clue who I am or one thing about me. And who's a socialist? Contrary to your ignorance, not everyone in California is a socialist looking for a handout. Big quake hitting Modesto? Hell, if there's a quake big enough to do damage in modesto, there's not much anyone is going to be able to do help. Take care of me? Good one!

And you 'federal employees', its your damned job to go into areas affected by disasters, is it not? So quit trying to puff your chest. You look like a dork (though I am sure you are used to it).

    WP-

My point simply is that (a) these guys haven't been there for the 5 years since they won a world series and (b) they aren't the reasons the yankees haven't succeeded in the playoffs.

I am sorry that your simple mind cannot comprehend that players like Arod who won an MVP award, or Sheffield who's hitting at the same clip in NY as he's averaged his career aren't the reasons the yankees haven't won the world series in 5 years. Also, these guys haven't been there the full 5 years, so to blame them for the yankees' shortcomings is just ridiculous.

Just because the teams in a smaller markets doesn't mean those owners still aren't at the very least have personal worths of hundreds of millions if not billions. They choose to collect a check rather than broaden there fanbase by actually bringing in talent. Maybe I'm just glad the owners of my favorites teams(Who are all in the same area, same area where my family is from and immigrated to from Ireland) are willing to work within the system and stay competitive. Are those teams you mentioned not playing "within the rules"? I believe that the MLB needs not only a salary cap, but a salary minimum. In fact I strongly advocate it for competitive balance.

I'll send you a free round trip plane ticket the next time I leave for the latest approaching hurricane or recently stricken disaster area. I guarantee that you'll pi$$ your pants and scream for mommy. Billy Bad Ass, no. Resolute and proficient at my profession, damn straight. Think about that next time you're tempted to make a comment about washing cars.

My cars? I can afford my toys because many months of the year I am required to work 60-80 hour weeks. Thankfully every hour worked is an hour paid. But while the rest of America is paid time and a half for overtime my pay is limited by congressional mandate to only a few dollars over straight time. Bet you would never do that. I do because I enjoy helping those in need, serving my country and ensuring that lives and neighborhoods are rebuilt.

We know plenty about you. We know that you are self centered and quick to make value judgements, degrading anyone who does not agree. That is your story and we all know it.

No help needed in the big one? You'll be the first to scream that no one was there as the electric and gas lines were popping around you. Where's my food? Where's my water? Why won't you pay to rebuild my home? Why didn't someone tell me about ways that I could prevent my home from being destroyed? Why did you not pay for me to build a stronger home? Why did you not tell me that my insurance wouldn't cover all of the damages? You're a homeowner. Look into these things and then you won't need to ask for help. I guarantee that right now you would not come out unscathed. The defeatist "well we won't be able to do anything" attitude is the problem, and not reality. If you would like to continue debating this you will be certainly made the fool.

Those who truly need help get it. Those who sit back and demand it just work the system.

Yes this is my chosen profession and yes I will puff out my chest. Why? Because small men such as yourself would never consider making the sacrifice but certainly scream when something goes wrong. As a US citizen and taxpayer you have that right. I also have the right to set you straight.

Suck it up Ax. You don't measure up.

Please send me the ticket. A good friend of mine was ready to go to new orleans to help out his father, who is well versed in those types of rescue situations, and I was ready to go as well. As usual your response is inaccurate on multiple levels.

It shows the typical knee jerk reaction of those who know nothing of emergency management or response to disasters, and your tendency to slam the federal government at every turn.

The next time you want to insinuate that I have a meaningless profession like washing cars I'll be back again with both guns blazing. Read the posts, you begged for it.

  • Weird about New Orleans, how nobody had a job there, and they were all on welfare, and before Katrina, Michigan had the worst unemployment rate. Perhaps if the drug addicts and alcoholics got off their lazy asses to find a job, and show some iniative, they would not have to blame the U.S. Government for the whole fiasco. McDonalds is always hiring, and someone on welfare is not "too good" to work there. If Ray "Chocolate City" Nagin and the governor really cared about the public, they would have had emergency personnel there before Katrina struck, but they opted to make it a political issue, and blame the feds. All I know, is if I did not pay the insurance premium on my home, and a tornado stuck me, I would be SOL! Welfare should NOT be a way of life, those on welfare should NOT have cable tv or internet access, and those on welfare should be drug tested and forced to work, there is a ton of graffiti that can be removed! Jobs are in abundance in New Orleans now, I wonder what percentage of welfare hoes actually turned down gainful work, because they are beyond that kind of work!!!!!!!
