jr ruler help

I ask this question about every other month, but would someone be kind enough to give me the calculations on how to figure centering on jr ruler.
Thanks in advance.

Measure from the left border, write that down. Measure the right border, write that down. Add them together. Take the left number and divide it by the total of the 2 numbers, then do the same for the right number.

So say you have 32(L) and 48(R) the total would be 80. To figure the left, do 32/80 = .4 or 40. To figure the right, 48/80 = .6 or 60. The card has L/R centering of 40/60.

If you're using that for grading purposes I think you're probably wasting your time. There's no evidence to suggest that PSA actually 'measures' centering; instead it's more of an eye appeal thing.

It helps me to sort through cards that are close on centering, Sometimes my eyes play tricks on me and I want to be sure, After looking at over 3000 86 Topps I need all the help I can get.

IMExperience a good rule of thumb (at least when you're going for 10's) is 'if I have to double check the centering it isn't worth submitting'.

Best of luck, though. Hope you get some good grades.

I generally eyeball it. I also find that anytime I have to slightly turn the card to "see if it's a 10 from a different angle..." then it's NOT a 10! I might WANT it to be a 10 but it's not. image

No thats not it at all, I just have so many, that are so close on centering I want to be sure I get the best centered ones.

i may have 5 or 7 of the same card and there may be some that are so close on centering that I want to get as close to perfect as possible.
