Pic's Of My 1956 Mint Set

Just picked this up from Darin on the B/S/T. Pretty nice coins. I've had numerous transactions with Darin and never been disappointed.image I was surpised that no "D" Mint Frankies were in the setimage None of the Jeffs are FS but one of the "D" mint Roosies may go FB? The Washies look 66 maybe 7image Not sure on the Frankies going FBL? Appreciate any thoughts and comments on these.image

  • I really like the first dime and the first quarter. In the last picture, it kind of looks like Franklin has lipstick on...

If my memory is correct, the Denver Mint did not issue any 1956 Frankies, thus only two Phiily Frankies for that year are included in Mint Sets. I have two 1956 sets and each of them only have two Philly halves.

Yep, same here. I have 2 sets and no D halves for that reason.

One thing I was wondering about....these sets were "two-fer" sets, right? Which ones had P-D-S all together? Are they oftern found together or apart?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Sorry Lee....that type of toning doesn't do it for me.......I prefer to dip the splothcy brown toned coins. The first two lincolns look like the have some nice color though...............

I know this type toning isn't for everyone and that's ok. I'll probably submit a few of them for grading after I take a closer look see.image Thanks Again for your thoughts and comments.image

Submiting for TPG grading probably would cost more than the set is worth and removes it form the original mint packaging to boot!

If you're selective about what you send in, you can make a tremendous amount of money submitting coins from these sets. I'd definitely send in the first and fourth Roosies and maybe the others if they have Full Bands/Torch, the first and last Washington, and the two Franklins.

The curious part to me is the fact the Jefferson nickels are not toned when the others are.....

Nickel doesn't always tone in these things, I have seen hundreds of sets and pulled nickels that were full step and submitted them,
nickel doesn't tone in many of them for whatever reason...

  • All of the silver could use a good dipping to rid it of that ugly tarnish.
