New eBay Seller...

...and another scam artist in the making. I was looking through Half Cents and ran across these for sale. I think the Kennedy Half I gave my daughter when she lost her last tooth was in better condition...and I didn't have to pay shipping.

The idiot couldn't even turn the coins so you could see them. What a loser!

  • "I have to ask. Why can't you turn ANY of your coins so they face the proper direction? I could understand dislexia in words, but how come in coins? The head faces up and down. The tail faces up and down."

We'll see how he anwers later. I would say he'll probably block me, but I doubt he knows how. Like I would bid on his crap anyway.

Maybe not a scam artist? Maybe just incredibly stupid, cut the guy a break.

If he truly is new to e-bay there is a slim, I mean really slim chance that he is just basing his shipping costs based on other costs he has seen. In addition many people have not seen Kennedy half dollars, or at least not often so again there is a slim chance that he may think they are in good shape.

I just hate to think that someone would bother scamming for a couple of dollars. It's just not worth the time and effort. I could make more by dressing in my worst clothes, not shave for a week and taking my coffe mug down to the street corner with a sign saying I have not eaten breakfast and need spare change.
  • Member on ebay since 6-24-04. Just giving seller the benefit of a doubt my guess is he really doesn't know anything about coins. Probably thinks the halves are rare coins since they are so seldom seen in change. And thinks since the rest are old they are valuable too.
Of course I could be wrong too..wouldn't be the first time..image

I don't think selling $1 in face value for $1.50 (plus $4.50) really qualifies as a scam artist

But hey, thanks for point it out (I guess)

A scammer is someone that knowingly defrauds the bidding public by representing counterfeit or over-graded coins. This guy is not a scammer, he's just new.

you're right...not a scam artist...yet. I said: "scam artist in the making". It's been my experience that scammers tend to start off small and work their way up the food chain. While $6 is very much small potatos, if this person is given an outlet to hone his craft it could be many more times that amount of money in the future.

I still think the shipping is reflective of a new Ebay Seller.

Now this guy is running a shipping scam! Read the Sellers Payment Instructions. That, is a scam.

Of course, once the new guy finds out his shipping payment also gets PayPal fees deducted, he could be raising his rates. Only time will tell!

It burns me to see people intentionally setting shipping so high but it's a good lesson learned for bidders. - - - > Read the whole damn auction before bidding!!!

Unless a coin weighs about 15 pounds these people should know that $29 is too much for basic shipping of one coin.

I'm surprised no one is bidding on his "buy one, get one free" Peace Dollars. The "free" one looks like it could go PO-1. image
