Brazil-- 20 reis (?) Since I think i see two "X X" but that part is really worn. It would date approximately in the 1820's-- don't know if this type was made into the 1830's

Good call coach!!! It definitely is Brazillian. It appears that it could be 40 Reis. 1770's to 1805.

Where you see the XX'x in the center, there would or should be a date just below. There is supposed to be a countermark over the XX's. -Dan

I also have to say that it has a combination of obverses. It could be a bad attempt at counterfeitting from long ago. -Dan

It's from the period of Joao VI as regent (1799-1816), and it looks like it doesn't have a counterstamp.
