This Forum's Official Buy, Sell, Trade Thread

This is just a sample idea of what can be done with forum "friendly" spam.

Just like we have the Official Heritage thread and the serendipitous thread to show off our "buys" or items we "found" in the closet - a thread like this can bring ALL the items people have together in one thread.

This way no one will feel inundated, yet some spam can filter into the forum.

We don't have to have this and I know there are some who have a zero tolerance position.

It just came to me and thought I would put it down - since I was up and have no life anyway. image

Happy Memorial Day

  • Great idea for a thread, I hope we have an thread that members will contribute to without fear of being blasted by some of the members. I always enjoy getting a good deal. Your last idea for a Mail call thread is still one of the BEST things about this website. Thanks

    Just a thought, or three.

Maybe the thread could be started here, run for a month or so, and then
be moved to the buy/sell/trade forum. That place is a disaster, in large
part, IMO, because most of the people on this forum do not use it/police it. That
circumstance might change if the folks here got "used to" making offers
    to buy/sell/trade on CU.

One downside I see is that the huge threads - like Heritage - take a very
long time to load on dial-up-connections.

I too like that there are usually "no commercials here," but if it was in its
own thread I could either look at it or not look at it. Pushy folks would likely
always be "pushing" the thread to the top, and it could be an irritant to
those who hate the thought. Thus, establishing it and getting it going here,
and THEN moving it to where it "belongs" might be a viable alternative.

    Might not be, too.

Spamming your ebay auctions will never be "forum friendly spam" IMHO..We have a forum for that already.

Offering items pre-ebay to fellow collectors is a worthy gesture. Many sets have an "official thread" and these "official threads" should be sought out and offers should be placed there.

    GOOD SPAM

BAD SPAM ( whether or not my criticism was warrented)

I have NO PROBLEM with this if spam good and bad is confined to one thread. Another good idea Mike!

I have some 1973 Topps PSA 8's and ONE PSA 9 that I am looking to move via trade. I am most interested at this time in 1978 Topps baseball PSA 9's or 1984 Donruss PSA 9's. All of these cards are NQ's. Thanks!

Look guys, I don't want this to wind up getting anyone upset.

It was just a late nite idea - many people don't want to wade thru the trade board and this was meant - more - to be a "sports card & memborabilia forum" - friendly - trade board commensurate with the Heritage thread - let's face it - me trading and asking for stuff here for trade or whatever is against the rules - but everyone here respects each other and accepts that type of exchange.

So, if the idea is ok with a proponderance fo the members - then it's a done deal - everyone keeps they're announcement to one thread and all and all, it's a win/win situation.

Again, this was just an idea and if we don't keep thinking about stuff - nothing improves.

Anyway - and more importantly - I hope everyone is having a good and restful weekend!

I also think it's a great idea.....for older and newer things. I will frequently bust a box and have several inserts to trade or give away.

As one person suggested update it, or begin another thread weekly or monthly, as it could get vrather long and tedious after a couple weeks or so.

BKAH's auctions were reported to Ebay...mysteriously.

Very coincidental that he posts just today, with some of his auctions having been up for days already and he gets reported.

If it's someone here shame on you.

no worries guys. I will repost them.
And ebay was cool and did refund all my listing fees.

I honestly could care less if you buy or not...

I posted on the Sports cards and Registry forum
because I was just trying to make sure that collectors
I know and like (most of you here, but evidently not all)
knew about the sale and got some of these if you
wanted them, instead of them all going to dealers
or strangers. I would hate to think that any of you
got out of it all and sold everything, or even just one set
and did not tell us about it.

but as far as Lostdart saying I did not post on buy/sell/trade
forum, I did, but to the Vintage buy sell and trade forum
as it is most all vintage items for sale.

And as for the "toy" comment, it was a joke.
Obviously Lostdart does not have kids
or has no idea what clothing, feeding, housing
a family costs these days. The adoptions were
expensive, but raising kids is the real costly part.

(and besides, what difference does it make,
just know that I need to sell the collection...
but Lostdart, now one has to buy anything unless
they want to... for their own personal reasons)

That's what makes me furious with Ebay - they pull his auctions, and let borderline criminals like "roscos-daddy" aka nomar ply their trade without interference. Sad, really.

I've had it for about 20 years. I wish I remember how I got it, but, unfortunately, all I'm sure of is how I DIDN'T get it, which was by visiting the dealership. I was in the car sales business back then and I think I might have gotten it from an old service writer for Honda sales in Santa Monica - he was an old high school buddy of Brooks Robinson, and he used to tell me a lot of stories.

I am guilty of spam in the regular forums.

However, when I hear about a complete or near complete registry set that's about to go on the market,
I love to hear about it.

I think a major set breakup is worthwhile news in the main forums. I have picked up a great deal of material
from collectors breaking up complete sets, and I appreciate it.

I don't think this is the forum for random buy/sell posts. But if the #5 1960 registry set is on the chopping block,
I would like 1st crack at it. I don't mind large collection break-up posts, just the piddly ones.

    Just my 2 cents,
    Nate

    I just want to say...

I never thought we could eliminate spam.

I never intended to police spam.

I just thought it would be a good idea if people who are "regulars" had a place to put up items to our friends here without feeling like they were cluttering up the threads and stuff.

    Does this make sense?
