    Looks like a normal 1924d.

There are no overdates in the Lincoln series.

It's a 1924-D that appears to be corroded and the area just north and west of the 4 looks to be crud or damage on the coin's surface.

thanks jrocco, lincolns never truly did a thing for me either which is great for lincoln collectors by all means but it just looked like that 5 is a raised number on there even though circulation lasted long for that 24-d or someone was playing with one and aged it.yep damage and all i figuired 25 to my door is a lesson i paid for

That pic does make you look twice even though it is not an overdate. I would look into trying to conserve that coin when you get it and try to see if those corrosion spots are bad or just hopefully surface gunk. I would soak that in mineral oil for about a month too and then see how it looks.

I wouldn't be quick to send that coin anywhere for conservation. To begin with, it would have to be EF40 to have it worth more than you already paid for it, and if you were to send it for conservation you would then have to pay shipping and fees for the work. Also, if the coin is corroded, as it might be, there is nothing anyone can do to repair it. A long soak in mineral oil is fine, but you should think long and hard before sinking more money into what is likely a money-pit.
