I have a bunch on my computer at work. If this thread is still in the line of sight I will try to remember to post a few on Tuesday.

edited: a bunch of dealer links not a bunch of inventory. I thought I would head off the wise cracks before they happen. image

Too many have no photos so I don't even bother with those today.
The only ones I routinely check are Pinnacle, Legend, Whitlow, O'Connor. Heritage, RCNH, Mark Feld. Very few out there have quality photos where you can decide to proceed or not. You would think everyone would do so.

Others I have looked at in the past: USCoins, Albanese, Delaware Valley, Dubin Rarities, Doug Winter, Mr. Early, John Maben, Numisvision, JJ Teaparty, David Lawrence, BV Coins, Aspen Park,
JP-The Mint, to name the majority.

If you trust a dealer, you shouldn't need a photo to move forward. For example, if Dick Osburn tells me a coin is nice and I should be looking at it, I will look at it. He does not have photos on his site. He has a huge inventory that is constantly changing and doesn't have the time to photograph all his inventory. He has a good return policy. No reason to look at a photo when I can see the coin in hand to make the final call.

Bottom line, you can't judge a coin by a photo anyway. Buy from trusted dealers and you can't go wrong.

You just said a mouthfull: "if you trust a dealer" and by this we are implying his grading expertise, consistency, etc. My opinions vary all over the spectrum with many diff types of dealers. There's not one dealer in the country where I agree on everything 100%...not even close. To agree 80% of the time is probably the best one could hope for. If anyone finds themselves agreeing with everything that is sent to them, I would reconsider what you are doing. Even the grading services only agree with themselves 60-80% of the time on resubmissions so what should that tell you about dealers in general?? I work with many dealers and know that we disagree more often than we agree! How many dealers constantly say they had to look thru multiple double row boxes of coins to find a couple goodies to bring home from a major show? Sort of a badge of honor...and implied self-expertise.

To those that do not have any expertise in grading coins they must rely almost 100% on the dealer they are working with. And that leaves one wide open for buying mistakes.

I do not have photos on my site, but everything is available on approval to customers with references.

  • Our inventory is online now with plenty of big images at www.jaderarecoin.com.

We are still working on building the site with full descriptions (most are just simple descriptions due to time constraints), plus adding articles and more numismatic content. It's a work in progress, but we are selling steadily off of the site.

Your constructive criticism is welcomed. We have thick skin!

Nice site. Because your images are pop-ups, might want to inform users to "allow pop-ups" on your website or to hold down Ctrl when clicking so that they aren't confused when the image won't come up.

What specifically do you collect? Then we can narrow down the possibilities. A lot of the dealers already mentioned are great.

  • My inventory is online. Most coins have photos and I try to keep the site up to date. I will be happy to add photos if asked.

Here are links for two sites I frequent that have already mentioned:

    Pinnacle
    Legend

Heritage also has many offerings. I like their auction archives for doing research.
