the coin may not be original, it may not even be very nice. it may be cleaned, artificially toned, damaged by grafitti, overgraded and overdescribed, and bid to levels far in excess of it's value to most of us.
But "ruined"?

I hope he leaves the real hard to find coins alone--they are already hard to find (did that make sense or what !!! )
The sad part is- as long as people buy coins like that , coins like that will always come to the market.

Edited to add: The coin noted in this thread isn't nearly as bad (compared to the seller's grade) as many of his other offerings I've seen.
it was a half eagle pattern in copper.
but it was gold colored. like it was plated in gold.
i asked some questions about it and i was basically told
this dealer is odd. putting it nicely.
