    What is a button hole collar?? I have several thousand of these nickels sitting around........maybe something to search for!!

    It was a die clash, the revese of the boat hit the obverse and there is a T(sideways) on jeffersons collar. The front of the sail is weak due to the die clash.

    sorry for the crappy pic, but the metal is raised, just look at a normal nickel
