Double blank Penny

ledzep87ledzep87 Posts: 1,108 ✭✭✭
While at work tonight, me and another guy were running the cash registers. He happened to run out of pennies so he unwrapped a 2006 D mint roll and was amazed when he found a penny with no obverse or reverse detail (completely blank).......he asked me how much it was worth......and I do not know? It was as bright as a brand new coin......any ideas? I may have to go buy it from him tomorrow-because he beat me to it. I think it was very cool!!! Thanks for any help!

Yes it was a blank planchet.....but the other guy at the cash register traded some money with the manager before I could. image

Should I let him have it-and perhaps start him off in collecting- OR beat the crap out of him until he lets me buy it from him?

Just kidding about beating him up.....or am I? image

What do you think I should do?

let it go, its just a blank planchet. if you work a register just keep your eyes open for anything nice. my daughter got a job at a high volume convenience store as a first job, i asked her to watch for anything old, unusual or extremely nice condition. she got me 2 morgans graded au and a sacagawea 2001p that i sent to pcgs that came back "mint error experimental rinse" ms67. to my knowledge there are none graded higher(correct me if i`m wrong). anyways, keep your eyes open, you never know.

    Thanks for the help!

I have found some very cool things (pre 1920 coins), off center coins, star notes, and some amazingly crisp pre 1995 $1s, $5s, $10s, and $50s!

Its a blast for me and everyone in the entire store knows how much I enjoy the hunt-which is why I think the guy at the other register got the coin....because he saw my jaw drop and my eyes get as big as Peace dollars. If only I had a poker face. image
