Green Label MS66 Walker now MS67 - the myth lives on

Not the results I had hoped for on the regrades I sent in, but 2 out of 7 did upgrade.

2 Freebie Registry Submissions(Regrades):

1 09574019 1941 50C USA MS67 (was Green Label MS66)
2 09574020 1944-D 50C USA MS66

5 Regular Submissions(Regrades):

1 10626930 1941-S 50C USA MS65 (was Green Label MS65 - faulty myth)
2 10626931 1943-S 50C USA MS66
3 10626932 1944 50C USA MS66
4 10626933 1945 50C USA MS66

    bgrice: Did you send them in Raw or in the holders to get the regrades?

    It is a myth now. There are tons of overgraded and doggy OGHs being recycled on Ebay, especially Morgans.

    The cheap one upgrades.

    The expensive one doesn't.

  • You caught it too, huh Russ? Got thrown a bone. The '43S & '45 were the best coins in that submission, but that would have added to the Top Pop's and created a lot of theoretical value. Couldn't have that happen. image

    HighRelief,

    Regrades are sent in to PCGS in the holders. They crack them and give them to the graders to grade as raw. Coins are guaranteed to come back at least at the same level sent in.
  • Congratulation on that 41-P. Your 41-S is a lot better than most 66's I've seen.

    Proves that the myth has some legs after all. 50% average after being selective is not bad at all. Nice work.

    Indeed the myth lives on. I must have at least 800 green insert and older insert PCGS slabs that have not been looked at by PCGS or anyone else since 1996 or significantly earlier.

    When I someday sell, they will not be recycled stuff.

    I know of others who have a number of early PCGS slabs and they do not play the crackout game.
