Hello, Iv'e decided to purchase an entry level detector and have narrowed down to a garrett ace 250 or a garrett predator II Which would be best for general use and varied terrain ?

Hi Mike!

From what I can tell you would be ahead to purchase the 250. From the 2 or so reviews I stumbled across, the Predator is a difficult machine to pinpoint. As far as bells and whistles the 250 offers depth, target ID, various preset discrimination modes and a couple other gadgets.(which are all very handy to a newbie detectorist)
The Predator offers...... none of the above.

I've used the 250 and it is a great coinshooter and I've heard of relic hunters having good success with them as well.

Many thanks, I was leaning toward the 250. Seems like a good entry level tool. I will be hunting from beaches to rocky soil.
