1824/2/0 bust half -Throw a grade at this overdate- best reverse strike I have ever seen **GRADE RE

This bustie has the most proof-like fields I have ever seen on a bustie. I am loving this coin. My crappy pics can't begin to show the color or field surfaces even slightly. This one surely needs the mgoodm3 talentimage
I threw in a few reverse pics because this is the sharpest strike I have ever seen on a bird- again-pardon my pics-best I can muster.
And its an overdate, an 1824 over 2 over 0 (or 1824/various)
I am now totally broke but very happy.
Want to shoot a grade at her? - It is misgraded in an ANACS slab right now.
The slab is also scratched to hell on this one- like over the 1 in the date for example.

Damn good strike for sure on that puppy. They must have put Big Bubba on the screw press the day that one was punched out.

    55.

You should send that to me, I can grade better when it's in hand.

I always loved this overdate also. It has been called so many different things, but I believe it has now been proven to be a 1824/2/0

Nice addition to your collection. Looks to have nice luster and the feather detail is great. I would "Guess" this is in an ANACS 61-62 holder.

    Sorry to hear that. (wink)

  • This bustie has the most proof-like fields I have ever seen on a bustie.

We own the same variety that is fully prooflike. In fact, the reverse is cameo. Point is that this variety is known for prooflikes, but they are still scarce....if not rare when prooflike. The early 20's yielded more prooflike bust halves than any other period, in my experience.

Another tough coin to grade... exceptional eye appeal and the strike is as good as one will likely see. If it is in an ANACS holder, they can be inconsistent and it may be a 58. Without seeing the coin in hand, I think it is better than a 58 and 62 with a shot at 3 is reasonable. Very nice coin and another that should stay in the collection for the forseeable future...

This reverse is so sharp- I just noticed that it is a pinned wing variety also (the Vammers got that one)image

Am I missing something? Is it in an ANACS net grade or something??? To me, I would grade it a gem - ms65 no problem.

I would guess ANACS 58. On this marriage the reverse is often a full grade better than the obverse. Beautiful coin.image

This is a very hard marriage in AU50 or better. Perhaps, it is so popular for the neat look.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

Ha, yeah, that's the first thing I looked for. I think the coin looks like a very nice 58.

This one is in an old ANACS slab and graded AU50.
I really like that because it saved me a bundle on the selling price.
This one is a 58 all day long due to some really light rub--- in fact it may be cabinet friction and could slip into an MS holder on a rainy day.
The rub/friction is right on top of the birds eye---- this coin has a clean obverse cheek and a killer PL suface- obverse and reverse.
    Thanks guys.
