1888/7 Indian? new pics added

Could this be one? or is it one of those "you'll know when you see it" things. Are there any other markers to look for? What is an effective way to remove the gunk for a closer look? I dont mess with Indians too much, but i told a freind I'd check out his late fathers collection. close to 2000 indians so far I have found 6 1908-s mixed in with the 1908s and had .40/ea written of the envelope. kinda off subject but i also found a 32-s in an envelope with 3x face written on it. lastly so far he had a 1972 ddo lincoln in a pci 64rd holder. Sorry for wandering, but i

It sure looks like one to me. TTT for more knowledgeable eyes to see. You might consider sending a picture by e-mail to Rick Snow, too.

Possibly....keep your fingers crosses. Check the obverse at 9 o'clock. On the 8/7 there is a distinctive die break running from the pillar of the 'D' to the rim. Sometimes the die break is easier to see than the 8/7 feature.

Does it run from the left corner upward to the rim? I see somthing there, but my microscope won't pick it up.

You know, I should have kept my mouth shut until I checked my reference photo's. I hava a closeup of the 8/7, but not a full obverse picture. I also have some narrative notes on the variety, which is where I got the die break information from. But now, I'm thinking I matched up my reference note to the wrong variety. I do know that some 8/7 IHC's have a die cud/rim defect kind of thing happening at 9 o'clock (I remember seeing it on some auction lots), but not all of them. The die break thing I'm not at all sure of after seeing what a mess my IHC variety notes are in. Sorry for the confusion and hopefully one of the guys who knows this series more than casually will step in and clean up my mess.

Kinda looks like what is pictured in Redbook. I know nothing about the series' varieties, but good luck to you.

It's got "character", I'll give it that. I'd certainly take a $30 flier on it and submit it to either ANACS or (if it is problem free) PCGS. Rick Snow sometimes posts here under the name "EagleEye", maybe you can drop him a PM or an email and point him to this thread.

Post an image of the entire obverse and then a close up on the left side of the rim of the obverse between 7 and 11.
