Reverse out Morgan Dollars

Hello -
Newbie here with a question.
I have a few NGC certified Morgan Dollars that are mounted with the reverses out. The reverses have crescent toning, while the obverses are white. The reverses are by far the more attractive sides of the coin, IMO, so it makes sense that they'd be mounted that way- (Apologies, no pictures at the moment)
My question is, do the grading services determine if the coin will be mounted with the reverse out, or is it something that has to be requested by the submitter?
Thanks, I am sure my participation in this forum will be pleasant, enlightening, and fulfilling.

Looking to buy Morgans in ACG, INS, IGA, Old PCI photo, and Hannes Tulving holders.

Not sure, but I think they would only do it if you requested that and it was appropriate in the toning cases. Personally, I think obverses (date side) should be always on the tag side. Otherise, might as well put all 21-D Morgans in reverse side up. I guess it is primarily done for marketing; most toned dates are extremely common ones from the Continental Bank booty.

I like the idea of having the reverses on the tag side if the coin warrants it.
It can be done if requested.

And even when you request it, they don't always do it... then they fix it

Not true!! I just got a submission back a few weeks ago. I sent in a bunch of cracked out and crossover NGC Morgan toners and most of them were returned reverse side up. I did not request it. I know that I have 4 here at home now that are reverse up holdered from recent submissions and I think there are a couple more in the bank.
VELKOMMEN aboard!!
