I am not liking that toning therefor I would stay away from it. If I am not 100% sure and its not cheap I am going to stay away!

It's been cooked, obviously. No separation from the devices...

It's slabbed a "highly respected" TPG service, got to be NT, right?

I think it stands a chance of being NT, but I'd want to examine it in person. The toning over some the the devices make me a little nervous.
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.

That one looks pan fried "over-easy" to me. Try it with a junk silver coin and it will look about like that just before it turns a solid gold color.

That image is so badly tweeked, there is no possible way of determining what the coin actually looks like, let alone if it real or not.

you might be asking the wrong question unless this is in a top tier slab
to me it looks like it could very well be a die-struck copy that has been torched to get the toning
so is it authentic? I do not know enough about trade dollars to say yes, I am inclined to say no

The coin has all the diagnostics of an authentic coin. It looks real to me (including a proof only die scratch found on 73 and 74 proofs).
That being said, the coin (or coin picture) looks very "tweaked" as someone mentioned. I wouldn't touch it.

My suspicion is that the toning is original, but that the image isn't true to life.

How can we tell the image has been "tweeked"?
