I don't have a guess as to your grade, but there appear to be several 1917 coins represented.image

I'll guess that yours is a 58FH (judging from the pic of course)

    This one's a PCGS MS65FH:

MrD - Stunning and thanks for starting this thread.

    Tom and MS60-any close-ups?

Barry - Do you have a close-up of that confused date? Love to see it!

Becoka - Is that color accurate? I see a that coin turning a sweet purple lie color!

Tommytype - Not crazy about the color but the details are fantastic.

Yep the color is pretty darn accurate. I compared the pic to the actual and in the light I used it is a redish brown color. I like to think the eagle is flying into a cloud.

Maybe in a purplish light I could get the effect you are looking for. image

howboutdemcoins - Here ya go. It's been a few months since I've taken any coin pics (cleared the copy stand, etc. off the desk for an electronics project) so this was a good excuse to set it back up. Sorry about the reflections - NGC plastic is tough.

    Poorguy,

Now I know why you call yourself "poorguy"...that 1928 is unreal. Must have set you back a bundle.

    Pharmer,

Great looking 1920, its a stunning coin.

    Barry,

Nice picture of your overdate. What did NGC grade it ? AU 55 ?

Everyone else, these are all great coins..."let's keep them coming ..."

Mike, the overdate is graded 53. I think they were a bit stingy.

Just about any 2MP camera will do the job. You just need a tri-pod or copy stand and a few lights at the right angles. It is not easy and it adds to the fun of collecting because after you have the camera photography is free and you can practice all you want. image
