Becoka - Is that color accurate? I see a that coin turning a sweet purple lie color!

Yep the color is pretty darn accurate. I compared the pic to the actual and in the light I used it is a redish brown color. I like to think the eagle is flying into a cloud.
Maybe in a purplish light I could get the effect you are looking for.
howboutdemcoins - Here ya go. It's been a few months since I've taken any coin pics (cleared the copy stand, etc. off the desk for an electronics project) so this was a good excuse to set it back up. Sorry about the reflections - NGC plastic is tough.
What are you people using to get such great shots of these wonderful toned coins???? Cameras or scanners???? Can't seem to get tht good a shot of my coins I try.

My coin pics taken from the great photographer MGOODM3. A radiologist by profession, sent some of my coins clear across the country for his work...

Just about any 2MP camera will do the job. You just need a tri-pod or copy stand and a few lights at the right angles. It is not easy and it adds to the fun of collecting because after you have the camera photography is free and you can practice all you want.
