1978 Eddie Murray Card on Ebay..

What do you think the (10) Murray card will go for? $5,000 to $6,000 possibly.

$5432.10 - it's going to go up in price like a space shuttle taking off! I think there are what maybe 8 or 10 that exist?

That is a pretty weak 10 for such a important card in that set. Centering on the back stinks. But who am I to say? image

Doesnt the centering on the reverse for most 78's stink?

not really gas, not more than any other issue that I have noticed. The PSA 10's that I own in this issue have fine centering on the back. But I am just playing devils advocate here. Maybe because my PSA 9 looks better to my eyes image

That OPC is most likely trimmed. A 78 OPC getting a 10 for edges? image

    It should look like this:

I've got a 78 OPC Bench PSA 9 with no rough edges (and a 72, 75, 77). I don't think rough cuts are ABSOLUTE for OPC's...just pretty common.

There's a line I love to see in a vintage card auction:

Agreed, but considering the Surface is the lowest of the four subgrades on this particular card, it is very likely either trimmed or sheet cut.

Could be sheet cut. Is it 100% when surface is the lowest of the grades?

Cardfan> Not necessarily. But I agree with you to the point where no rough edges on 70s OPC doesn't guarantee trimming or sheet cuts. . .but at the same time, if I see smooth edges on 70s OPC, I become much more suspicious.

As for the OPC in the auction. . .why is it that he has an $1100 card - with immediate payment required, no less - and he still can't see fit to provide a good scan.

And looking at his other items. . .$995 for a Fisk RC in PSA9??!?!?! He's got to be kidding, right?

$3,851.00 with a little over three hours left. I guess the price tag tells me everything I need to know about the difference in a PSA 10 and a GEM Elite 10!! Hhhhhmmmmm.

Fun auctions. That 10 was 'okay' but I have (havent we all?) seen a few 9's that were about the same. Judging a scan as opposed to holding it in the hand is always tough.

That OPC is definitely sheet cut. Its too nice and too pearly. Ive yet to see any one close to that without some extra paper hanging off the edges.

I just got my legit 9 for less than 150.
