I am embarrassed to say $46.50 plus shipping! WOWOW!! I AM SO EXCITED!!
<< <i>PCGS is listing it at $1450 in MS66.....don't know how accurate that is? >>
Last few at heritage brought over $600.00 in auction, and in MS67 over $4,000.00!!!
<< <i>OK, so here's a question. They're obviously available in gem condition, and you've got great profit potential here. So, even if it's one for your collection, do you turn it and add the cash you might have spent on it to upgrade, or what? I don't know what I'd do in your shoes. >>
This one is a KEEPER!! I am not going to let this one get outta my hands. I will come up with more funds for other coins. But this one is a KEEPER!!!
<< <i>What are the dark spots on the left and right of Washington? >>
Lighting issues!! SUPER COIN!

1 million dollars to me!! NOT FOR SALE!
<< <i>The coin is the light motto variety for a 1934 and it is at least MS66... >>
I'm not nearly that optimistic about the grade, based upon the image. What is the white stuff on the cheek?

I think its just the image but I will see it in hand to be sure. I am still so excited! Thanks for the honest opinions!!

So, I assume you have it in hand? If so, can you shoot some better images?

While I certainly grok your excitement since I've been there many times myself, you can't make a definitive grading assessment based on small images shot at a severe angle.

Better to have your bubble burst sooner, rather than later - as a forum member here, you should know better than to declare "MAJOR SCORE" based upon an on-line image, especially one like that.
Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
<< <i>Bruceswar, you sounded so confident about the grade, that I had incorrectly presumed that 1) you had seen it in hand, and 2) were very confident in your grading abilities. The "white stuff" I asked about on the face looks like typical (stacking) friction and I'd be very surprised if the piece grades better than MS63. For all we know at this point it could be a "slider".

Thanks for the honest opnions Mark! Maybe a bit of overreaction, but I am pretty good at grading coins. Sweet buy at any rate! Thanks for the opinions all! And Mark I usally don't call a grade on a single image, but with this one I did...

Fair enough. Wish me luck!
I hope you are right in your judgement though.
<< <i>Be careful with images shot like this one Bruceswar. You can't even see IGWT from this pic- it could have a major problem in just that area of the design.
I hope you are right in your judgement though. >>
Thanks for that advice I am fairly sure since I have seen quite a few quarters as of late, since I am building a high grade washington set. Thanks for the advice! I hope I am right as well. I am sure the reason this went soo cheap is that it was not mentioned anywhere in the auction other than on the holder. So if you did not read the holder, and know what you are looking at then. "1934 Washington Quarter" Was the auction title!
<< <i>Poor Bruce, no "happy talk". >>
Thats ok more happy talk when I get the coin in hand!
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
<< <i>Repeat after me: there is no Santa Claus in numismatics. >>
Yes This is true unless not marked in the auction. Just ask the VAM Guys!
<< <i>Post a picture of the coin when it comes back in a PCGS or NGC holder and I will settle for a 65... and it will have been a fine buy >>
I am not sure it will be going into a slab. Raw coins are cool! It will fit into my high grade set very nicely. But thats not to say, it still might.
<< <i>This thread is very funny..... >>
Whats funny? My excitement or some of the comments made?
<< <i>THAT IS SURE A BEAUTY.... I'VE TRIED TO ATTACH A 34 I JUST REC'ED ALSO. >>
Nice coin looks like a Heavy Motto if you ask me!
both...
<< <i>I sold my Washington MS66/7 collection but probably grades haven't changed much since then. Unless you have a good close-up picture, there's no way to guess the grade--could be anywhere from 62 to 67. The good thing is it has a lot of nice luster which will permit a high grade if the marks etc permit it. At a distance it's looks good enough, but that does ASSUMES there are no slide marks or hidden scratches, as well as high point roll friction. Roll friction is in fact common on these as Coinguy1 points out, that keeps it MS63 if present and distracting. The good news is you are freerolling--it's just real hard to lose $ on this one with plenty of upside. >>
My thoughts 100%... Huge upside and little to no downside. Luster is killer looking to me.
<< <i>Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine edited in too many exclamation points and made Mr. Pitt angry. >>
Heh... Me, too! Still, his excitement is contagious - I'm pulling for you!

<< <i>Consider that, at worst, you may have a super-slider that I'd say is well worth the $ you paid. If it does turn out a slider, then celebrate the fact that it's still a nice coin, and you can learn that coins shot at such an angle can make some flaws "disappear". Then again, you might have a nice MS piece with no significant friction, in which case you've gotten a real nice score indeed - let us know either way. >>
I will be sure to let you all know when I get it it hand. I am really suprised it went so cheap if you ask me. I was sure it was gonna go high at the end.

Thanks! This is what the hobby is all about if you ask me. The hunt for the coins, weather they come at a good deal or you have to search out many shows and pay a premium. For me the hunt is key to enjoying coins.
