The coin is the light motto variety for a 1934 and it is at least MS66... check the PCGS price guide and heritage auctions.. you will see why I am so excited!

OK, so here's a question. They're obviously available in gem condition, and you've got great profit potential here. So, even if it's one for your collection, do you turn it and add the cash you might have spent on it to upgrade, or what? I don't know what I'd do in your shoes.

I don't have it in hand yet, thats just my conclusion based on the pics provided! I will be sure to take some as soon as I get it. Thats just my opinion! Thanks for the opinions! I will be sure to post pics!

While I certainly grok your excitement since I've been there many times myself, you can't make a definitive grading assessment based on small images shot at a severe angle.

Bruceswar, you sounded so confident about the grade, that I had incorrectly presumed that 1) you had seen it in hand, and 2) were very confident in your grading abilities. The "white stuff" I asked about on the face looks like typical (stacking) friction and I'd be very surprised if the piece grades better than MS63. For all we know at this point it could be a "slider".

Better to have your bubble burst sooner, rather than later - as a forum member here, you should know better than to declare "MAJOR SCORE" based upon an on-line image, especially one like that.

Be careful with images shot like this one Bruceswar. You can't even see IGWT from this pic- it could have a major problem in just that area of the design.
I hope you are right in your judgement though.

Thanks for that advice I am fairly sure since I have seen quite a few quarters as of late, since I am building a high grade washington set. Thanks for the advice! I hope I am right as well. I am sure the reason this went soo cheap is that it was not mentioned anywhere in the auction other than on the holder. So if you did not read the holder, and know what you are looking at then. "1934 Washington Quarter" Was the auction title!

I am not sure it will be going into a slab. Raw coins are cool! It will fit into my high grade set very nicely. But thats not to say, it still might.

The reason this is a major score is due to the price I got it for! Even if it is MS 64 I still got it very cheap! $46.50

I sold my Washington MS66/7 collection but probably grades haven't changed much since then. Unless you have a good close-up picture, there's no way to guess the grade--could be anywhere from 62 to 67. The good thing is it has a lot of nice luster which will permit a high grade if the marks etc permit it. At a distance it's looks good enough, but that does ASSUMES there are no slide marks or hidden scratches, as well as high point roll friction. Roll friction is in fact common on these as Coinguy1 points out, that keeps it MS63 if present and distracting. The good news is you are freerolling--it's just real hard to lose $ on this one with plenty of upside.

My thoughts 100%... Huge upside and little to no downside. Luster is killer looking to me.

Thanks! This is what the hobby is all about if you ask me. The hunt for the coins, weather they come at a good deal or you have to search out many shows and pay a premium. For me the hunt is key to enjoying coins.
