Another Krause competitor?

I found an EBay listing for a Japanese-occupied Chinese coin, with an incorrect description, so I asked the seller where he got the information, and he said "Simon and Schuster". It was an East Hopei 1 chiao, listed as an East Hopei 20 cent. image

A short stint on Google turned up The Simon and Schuster World Coin Catalogue, Twentieth Century 1986-87 Edition, which seems to be the latest edition.

Used copies are available pretty cheap on Amazon, but since all I know about it is that it has at least one wildly erroneous listing, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with it and knows whether that was typical. image

  • I have a 1979-80 edition and its been useful as a worthy supplement to Krause especially in its much more detailed descriptions of the designs on many of the coins. Roy, there are 18 pages in the Japan section. If you can get one for under $10 I'd say its well worth it.
