1977 collectors take a look see

Where will this PSA 10 Brett end up? Should it even be a 10? It looks pretty solid from where I sit. It is 1 of 3. But, an absolute ton of these have been graded, so it is rare. It is at $460 now and is a DSL auction.

It looks pretty darned nice to me. I have a PSA 10 just like it so I am very curious to see where it winds up. image

    very nice card indeed!

dsl pushes some really nice cards, pretty consistently too, despite our bashing of them from time to time.

Bobby, your 10 looks to be better centered T/B than the one for auction. Between that card and your 76 PSA 10 Carew, you are sitting on a couple of beauties!!

Thanks Bob. Personally, I have never viewed a more color-rich card than my '77 Brett. It is an awesome card IMO. Of course, compared to many other members, I haven't seen that many cards ...image What is your guess as to the final tally for the DSL Brett? It is at $598 right now. I am thinking maybe $900?

The first Brett looks boderline OC to me. A low grade 10 to me. The second one has better eye appeal to me.

I was thinking in the $800-900 range myself. I agree that the centering is real borderline for a 10, especially top to bottom. I agree with the sentiment that a 10 should appear to be "dead centered". the Brett, along with the PSA 10 1977 Rice that went last week did not leave me with that feeling.

Looks a little short to me. Compare it with this PSA 7.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

The card is beautiful, but the 60/40 top to bottom centering would preclude it from being gem mint in my book. I'd probably give it a 9.

It just went for $850.00. That's a lot of coin. image

I thought between $800-$900 and for a change I was right, although that centering is not a 10 in my book so I didn't throw my hat in the ring. I am guessing there are a lot of 9's out there that are dead centered and probably provide an equal amount (or more) eye appeal.
