I never, ever thought I'd buy a raw SBA, but........

I couldn't pass up the toning on this one! I found this at the Denver Coin Show today - I'm not even sure why I was looking at SBA's. But I'll put it in my type set and I'll bet I never buy a raw SBA again.

    I saw a clad Eisenhower-that was also toned-while at a coin dealer.

I ran away as fast as I could.

Great transaction with: Relaxn, Collectorcoins, OKCC
  • It is very hard to find a pretty SBA. Nice work.

SBA's are not attractive coins in the big scheme of US coinage, but they are still coins and can look nice in good condition or with some nice toning. Your's is a nice example. I have a bunch of SBA's that I put in 2X2's and forgot about and when I saw them years later- they all toned up nicely. Here is a poor pic of a decent example.

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Why do I say that? I have my reasons. i.e. clad coins don't tone naturally...

I think this coin is NT.

I can't imagine anyone spending any effort trying to artificially tone this coin. I bought it from a dealer for a whopping $2.00 and the dealer made a $1.00 profit I'm sure.

My guess is that this coin spent some time in an album. Now it will spend some more time in my album.

That is NT all the way. Clads to tone nicely in albums and this is an obvious album coin. I've recently seen a set of IKEs that was in an old Dansco album that toned like this.

The beauty of the toning takes one's attention away from the ugliness of the design. Excellent type set choice.
