Buying tickets from some Joe Schmoe... risk?

I'm thinking about buying some oilers game 3 tickets from someone.. could the person sell me the tickets then get 2 new tickets printed saying he lost his or something thus screwing me over? or do i only have to worry about fake tickets being sold to me?

Knuckles - with the TicketMaster etickets anyone can print as many tickets as they want. It's just a PDF file. The policy is usually first one in the arena (first to get their tickets scanned) gets the seats. I've heard that people have gotten burned here in San Jose by this. So in answer to you question, at least per San Jose policies, if you get into the arena first, anyone else with the same seats is S.O.L.

I think it's best to try and get "Season Ticket Holder" tickets whenever possible as those take a little more effort to reproduce. If you are responding to an eBay listing or Craigslist posting just ask the seller if they are e-tickets or "hard" tickets.

Also, more tickets in San Jose get released at 10am day of the game when tickets they have held for players, NHL, etc get freed up. They usually go on sale at the box office and TicketMaster at the same time. You might want to check this too.

And finally, scalper prices down here drop drastically once the puck drops. If you don't mind missing a chunk of the 1st period you might score a nice seat cheap.

    Good luck.

I heard a horror story here in Cleveland about Cavs/Pistons tickets.....person showed up to sit and there already was someone else in the seat. Needless to say someone wasn't happy. I'd be leary of buying off the internet unless I knew the folks..

At least for the Sacramento Kings season tickts you have your book of printed tickets, but you can also email an eticket to someone. I thought that this voids out the real ticket and the pdf takes it place. I've never tried using a real ticket after also issuing an eticket.

The AZ Cardinals tickets are the same. You can e-mail the tickets or have them reprinted for will call - the orignal season ticket is then voided. The serial number (UPC code) is no longer valid.
  • I have both tickets off eBay for the last few years. I have had them snail mailed & emailed to me. I haven't had any problems. I use eBay to find tickets in ALL areas of the stadium. I have sat in all the areas I have wanted to in Safeco Field.

If it's a good deal you might call the areana where the event is & ask them.

    Just my 2 cents.
