Has Hi-def and Fantasy sports changed the way you watch sports ??

Tonight I find myself watching the Red Sox and Phillies game. Mostly because the picture is crystal clear in hi-def and I have a few guys from both teams on several fantasy teams of mine. 5 or 10 years ago I wouldnt even have thought about watching this game, Im not really a fan of either team. It looks like technology may be changing the way in which we watch sports, Whadda ya think ??

  • When you were raised watching games on UHF with rabbit ears, a regular 25" TV with cable is good enough for me. Pretty soon everything will be changing over to HD so any type of "free" TV will go by the way of the dinosaur....

Fantasy sports have killed me! Especially the NFL. I'll find myself watching the last 2 minutes of a blowout game between the 49ers and Cardinals just to see if Larry Fitzgerald or somebody else can get some garbage stats!

I hear ya, I remember laying in my room when I was a kid listening to the Reds on A.M. radio. We live about 350 miles from Cincinnatti so needless to say the reception was terrible. I used to have to turn the little clock radio in some awkward positions to get Joe and Marty to come in.

Dude, I don't even watch the games anymore. Unless it's with my laptop not more than 24 inches away.

In my youth, I too I spent many summer nights falling asleep listening to Marty & Joe on 700 WLW...I did not get any better than that!

I put aluminum foil on wires to get the Cleveland games in Detroit when I could not get the Tigers! HD only for any game other than the Wings, Pistons, Tigers or Packers (I would not watch the Lions even in HD !!!) The thought of Russ Thomas still makes me puke !

If it wasn't for fantasy football, I might have bolted the NFL - my Rams used to be soooo bad! Before they won the Super Bowl in '99, the Rams & Bengals were tied for the worst record in the 90s and had lost 17 straight games to the hated 49ers. Fantasy football gave me something else to focus on besides another 3-13 season and the 6th pick in the draft.

I've definitely changed how I watch football because of my fantasy league. Same with HD tv. I'd rather watch cows grazing on HD than watch a standard definition Yankees vs. Red Sox game. image

HDTV has revolutionized the way I don't watch sports on TV. The reasons are endless but primarily because of too many commercials and too many showboaters.

I will tell you a sport I never really watched before but watch in HD - Hockey. HD.net on DirectTV had tons of HD hockey games on, and on regular TV, hockey isn't that exciting to watch. HD was definitely a treat.

I doubt the free games are going to go anywhere, if you are within broadcast range of your local affiliates, you can pick up the games in HD from there for free.

  • I agree that fantasy sports have all but killed most team oriented fans only. Being a GIANTS fan, it repulses me that from week to week I may have to pull for Clinton Portis or TO so that another team may lose, or that I may win.

Now HD.... only my wife hates that. Since we got it, the picture is so real, that I make her carry beers around on a tray til Im ready for one.

    Sometimes I tip her...
  • I can hardly watch any sports on regular TV since I got HD. My wife isn't a big sports fan, but loves to watch sports on HD.
    Always buying 1984 Ralston Purina PSA 9s and 10s I NEED 19,21, and 29!!!
