NBA Fans: Are the playoffs much more exciting this year than in recent years?

To me it seems so. Almost all of the first and second round playoff matchups so far have had great games with nip and tuck battles, great individual performances, overtimes, double overtimes, and "whoever shoots the last shot wins" type games. Also, it is refreshing to see some different teams win and progress deeper into the playoffs (i.e. Clippers and Cavs).

They are, and I think part of that too is a group of stars that's been missing from the past few years.

You've got Dwyane, LeBron, and Carmello who all made appearances. You have back to back MVP winner Nash and an electric Suns team. You have the Mavericks with lots of star power. Even the Clippers with Brand and co. are putting on a great show.

I think we are in a great resurgance of the NBA. The ball control, grind it out style of play that epitomized the East for a good number of years is basically gone and you have good, exciting basketball being played in both conferences.
  • Most exciting NBA playoffs since I've been watching the NBA(Hey, I'm only 20!) but this year so many games have gone down to the wire, also some blowouts followed by a mirror result the next game.

  • NBA Playoffs are too commercialized, and get boring and annoying. Like football games, there is way TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much overanalyzation by past NBA stars and sports reporters. Just let the guys go out and play, let them win or lose, and then quit analyzing so deeply, as to why a team lost!!!!

    Yes....

I have never been an NBA fan at all. I used to watch Jordan and Co. occasionally during their run, but really nothing since.

I tuned in one night when nothing else was on to see what LeBron was up to against the Wizards and have watched each of their playoff games since.
