I'm one step closer to completing my modern crap franklin cameo proof collection!

I've been wanting a nice 1956 type 1 cameo franklin for a while, and I got this one from Greg Hansen.... image

Myqqy, congrats on a nice acquisition and coming close to completing your Proof Frankie set. Is this the first set you have completed or have you done this set previously? Do you collect raw, slabbed or both?

It would be fun to show and tell your set with me and my raw set with you. Per chance do you live in No. Cal. or ever visit? SanctionII.

P.S., I have looked for many years and have only found one 1956 Type 1 half. I acquired the coin in a proof set without even checking out the half to see if it was Type 1 or 2. Later on while looking at the set I found the half to be a Type 1. It is fully brilliant and would probably grade a 63 or 64 at best.

Also, I have looked but have never found any 1961 DDR.

Most of the franklins are slabbed, but I do have a few raw cam gems that I picked up for cheap online. Of course, the last ones I need are the 1950 and 1951 in cam, and luckily I'm patient......image
I live in the portland, oregon area, and trying to find any decent cam franklins locally feels next to impossible... image

Congratulations on picking up the type one 1956 Proof Franklin. Isn't it amazing how difficult they are to locate unless you go to a dealer who specializes in them ?

You mentioned that you're still looking for a 1950 & 1951 in CAM. Those two dates were the last two I needed to locate in CAM as well. Once you do locate them, however, hold onto your wallet, they're outrageously priced - either in auction or thru a dealer.

Are you also going for the 1961 DDR ? Are you registering the set on the NGC Registry ?

Again, congrats on picking up that lovely coin.

You would leave the hardest two for last. That's what I would do...

Myqqy, since you are a West Coast resident, you should consider taking a couple of days and attend the Santa Clara show in the Bay Area or the Long Beach show in So. Cal. (if you have not done so already). I have had some very good luck in finding very nice 1950-1970 CAM and DCAM coins, both raw (my favorite) and slabbed at both shows.
