Hi Everyone,
I mail a coin by Registered Mail with insurance, PCGS receives the package but claims there was nothing in it! Who's liable for the loss of the coin? PCGS or the USPS?

Mailed one just the other day....same here......they do.....do this. There would not have been any evidence of tampering since (as posted by ABC123) PCGS had accepted the package and opened it. Who's liable?

Sorry, but, on a practical basis, no one. It's your word/belief against that of PCGS's that a coin was originally in the package.
<< <i>If there is no evidence of tampering, and PCGS has good evidence that there is no coin in the package.... You're hosed. they can say that you never put a coin in to it and it would probably hold up. >>
Interesting guys! So somehow the sender would need someway to verify that he indeed, put the coin in the package. Has anyone here done that?

<< <i>If PCGS says no coin, then you sue them. If PCGS says packaged damaged or coin missing on their video; eventually USPS will have to pay----AFTER a major investigation. Of coarse if you just "forgot" I'm sure the Federal Judge will say "No problem-maybe you'll remember after the 8 years in Levenworth Prison for mail fraud!!!" >>
