i want to see the movie, and it does look good.. but all a person has to do is realize its fiction, hell, even dicsoverys channel and Histpry channel even been doing specials and show that it's fiction.. that dude that wrote about "priory of sion" or whatever was proved to be a hoax,,,
,
I've also seen some of those recent shows on the Discovery and History channels and of course there have been many other TV shows on this topic for years now...and of course books on this subject for many centuries. As Paul Simon once wrote, "still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest" certainly can be said about many people's religious beliefs.
They want to claim that a movie is going to color the opinions of some potential church goers? Pathetic.
I plan on seeing it. Hanks is (almost) always money and anything that sticks it to the religious cults of this country I am all in favor of.

And I LOVE it that the pri$$y little scumbag that you are gets offended by what people wear and what they drive only because of how old they might be or what they look like.

Booyah!
Tell it like it is.
I never said I got offended, though it appears I struck a nerve with the middle age crises. Recently pick up a sports car? haha
<< <i>Hanks' best work was in the Toy Story movies. >>
He was excellent in Philadelphia, though it was brilliant pairing him with Tim Allen in those Toy Story movies.
Hey, I love those two!
Which is better... The book or movie?
Regards
Gary
But just as appaling is the 'boycotting' that some folks of the religious right want to pursue, as if this were some sort of non-fictional account of what happened. All they are doing is (a) giving it more free publicity and (b) legitimizing it for those people who don't know the history. If the religous folks truly wanted this movie to disappear, they'd not give it the time of day.
i havent read the book, but i heard that the problem some people have with it is that somewhere at the beginning it says something about it being "fact"..
<< <i>I have read the book, did not see the movie, and ANYthing that can discredit the religious sect, whether it is fact or fiction, I am all for it. I love to plss off religious people as much as I love ticking off Yankee fans!!!!!!!!!!!! >>
you have proved to be too stupid to really tick off Yankee fans .... sorry chump
Axtell will at least give a decent challenge from time to time. YOU however are a putz

I would recommend seeing the history channel programs as opposed to the movie.
The Catholic church is so full of B.S. it is unbelieveable. All religions.
Remember that in the history of the world that more people have died in the name of God than for any other reason.
It is amazing how easily people believe things that are told to them, and totally disregard reality. That is why I always reference Atlas with the sports arguments, as sports fans sometimes do the same thing for 'their' guys.
<< <i>Panandrews is correct, the history channel has dissected the theories quite well, and shows waaay to many inaccuracies.

Wow, Skinpinch and I actually agree on something concerning the Church and religions! The book nonetheless, was good in my opinion, even though my opinion does not matter! I also have seen the History Channel progs too, wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When we disagree about sports, like I often do with my friends, it is just sports. We can have a heated argument about a topic, but afterwards we can still go out and shoot some hoops, go to a game together, or piss on each others leg at 3 AM, because it is just a release.
And I don't believe any god exists, so yes, athiest would be a good definition for my belief system.

It's an old saying. You'll figure it out.
<< <i>Ax, at what point in your life did you come to that realization/conclusion? Was there an event? >>
I went to a christian school from K-6, so I am very fluent with the stories in the bible, the messages, etc.
There was no single event that drew me to this conclusion, I just could no longer rationalize belief in an entity that would allow terrible things to happen to good people, all in the name of testing one's 'faith'. I could no longer sit by and watch as science (i.e. evolution) was cast aside in favor of fairy tales (i.e. crationism, or as they say now 'intelligent design').
I don't begrudge anyone their faith. If it's what you want/need in your life for peace, more power to you. You won't see me hounding my good friends who are devout christians about their faith, you just won't see me partaking in it.

care to elaborate what exactly you think 'explains a lot' about my being atheist?
