A baseball purist?

Ever heard somebody say this when they talk about the DH? "That isn't how baseball was meant to be played. I am a purist! Ged rid of the DH!"

Did you ever notice that the true definition of a 'baseball purist' is...'One who wishes the rules, style of play, and auro of the game to be trasnformed back to the mold that it was in when that person was first immeresed in the game.'

It is silly to say you are a baseball purist, well unless you think baseball should be played with no gloves, pitched underhand, and having batters tell the pitcher where they want the ball to be placed image

I think the DH actually gives more purity to the game. Instead of a manager being forced to pull a pitcher for a pinch hitter later in a tight game, the pitcher gets to focus on pitching, etc. etc.

I think the people who say the DH shouldn't exist have never seen Randy Johnson swing a bat.

I have been living with the DH for basically my entire life, and it is something I really have no opinion on. On one hand I enjoy guessing what the manager is going to do with one out and one on with the pitcher who is nearing 90 pitches is due to bat next and the team down by two with three to play ... or just knowing that there is a big bat that does nothing but hit.

Personally, I would rather not have the DH but again, it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other.
