Who Are Your Favorite World Crown & Thaler Dealers ??

StuartStuart Posts: 9,793 ✭✭✭✭✭
Since I am getting started collecting World Crowns & Thalers, I'd appreciate your recommendations for some of the best dealers of these coins who have web sites and/or auctions.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!! image

I am thinking Stuart would be one of my favorite once he starts selling off some of the great Thalers he has imageimage

I bought from elgi2 (Dirk Loebbers) on eBay in the past. He is in Germany, but he also does 1 or 2 of the big international shows in the US. He was helpful and the taler arrived better than expected.

Ira & Larry Goldberg and Heritage consistently have high end talers in their quarterly auctions, but be prepared to shell out the cash. The current selection from both auction houses is quite impressive.

p.s. - You are not allowed to bid against me on my 1 item in the Goldberg auction. image

IlikeZARcoins: Although I was not able to get your link to work, I think that I found the Half Thaler that you were referring to on Smythe's web site. Is this it??

1624 Bohemia Half Thaler NGC MS 63. Joachimstal. Attractive old cabinet toning. Truly exceptional!

  • Sorry Stuart - the link is not working for me at the moment either.

However, yes, that was the coin I was refering to - if you are interested in purchasing the coin it would be wise to PM andy first.

IlikeZARcoins: Thanks very much for the tip on Andy's (Smythe's) Half Thaler imaged in my previous post.
Since I'm still in the learning process, I will focus on AU/Unc examples of 16th & 17th Century Double Thalers & Thalers, at least for the near-term, which are more affordable than mint state examples.
