Opinions...gold or platinum? (looks, not value!)

Hey all...I'm looking to buy a nice proof coin from 2006, but I cannot decide on a 1/10 oz platinum or a 1/4 oz gold eagle (that's about all the ole bank account can afford for now).
I've owned a few 1/10 oz gold eagles and was not very impressed (mainly due to their extremely small size). I assume the 1/10 oz platinum is equally small, but does it look any better?
I am not looking for potential value or anything here...strictly looking to purchase the better looking coin!
Opinions appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value---zero."----Voltaire
"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire
But there is something about proof gold however.....
The 1/10 Ounce platinum looks ok but I would try to go with the 1/2 or 1 Ounce. They look exponentially more impressive as you increase size.
The only way to enjoy the 1/10 ounce is to get a zoom lens and blow it up on the computer. Then put the coin away and just admire the pic since you will need a magnifying glass to see the actual coin.
I would love the 1 oz coins, but can't.....
but if you must buy bullion then get the platinum. Gold anything--regardless of the design--is simply fugly.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
In terms of density, gold and platinum are just about equal so if you get the same fractional ounce coin the gold and platinum ones will be within 0.5mm of each other in size. So what it comes down to then is the design on the coin. Is the design on the proof coin a big factor in your purchase? The design on the proof gold coins has been the same for 20 years now. If you aren't able to get any of this year's proof gold coin, you can always go into past years and get the same exact design.
The platinum proof designs have changed every year since their inception in 1997. Therefore, if you really like this year's design your only option is to pick up the 2006 proof. If you are unable to get it, you'll have to wait until they are on the aftermarket where they may experience a significant markup. (With gold, at least, you can just find a cheaper year and buy that one).
Why is this?
platinum is for communists and pigs
