I"d only buy if I could quick flip in a day or two, and I that is not my style and I have little confidence in a definite bounce. It helps if a person is on the right side of the bid/ask. If a person can find a motivated seller (say 10% under spot) that might be worth doing. Otherwise, I am waiting for a low risk entry point. If a person likes to roll dice, these are the days in silver and gold.

With all that, if a person has zero precious metals and wants in, it is fine to start a gradual accumulation, no matter the price. This is what the average collector should focus on in any case. In my view, trying to time the market for amateurs is like trying to play golf against a pro for money, often big money. The odds are way against you, and you'll hear every story about when the amateur won, and none of the ones about the pro eating their lunch. The odds of losing go up in volatile markets like silver is right now.

You need to average buy a little every week. When this turns around it will be strong and you won't get a chance to buy again for awhile at a higher level. Never drop all you money on PM's trying to find a bottom, you just never know.

Buy, buy, buy now. I've got it on good authority that Silver will be about $15 an ounce in the year 3072.

    Carl,

I believe that you have made a very bad mistake.......silver will be back at $15 by 2104, not 3072. imageimage

I believe Silver will be in the 20's by the end of the year. Just keep in mind as gold approachs $800 you could see wild swings of as much as $100 in a day as the powers to be try to shake buying gold and staying in flat money.....they'll lose, wait and see.

With the huge run up in price (percentage wise), shouldn't you be looking to sell?

I'm waiting for $12 to buy. I have no idea if it will drop to that, bu I have yet to buy at anything over $10.
When I do by it will probably be a few 100 oz in the silver ETF. I'm getting tired of digging up my backyard to bury these bars.

I subscribe to the option that it is never a bad thing to take a profit, so I have sold the little bullion and gold I own. The market is too volitile for a small player like myself who doesnt really understand the enormous paper positions in silver and what it might mean to me.

This is the time for the professionals. I will sit on the sidelines for a year or two and accumulate other things that I am more knowledge about. Just MHO on this.

  • The dollar is dead meat! Which means silver and gold are a BUY! BUY! BUY! for the long run. The dollar will probably come back in the short term but the future of the dollar is dismal. What is the one thing that a air force takes with him besides a gun in case he's shot down? A gold coin, because it is recognized world wide as something of value!

I think silver would have to be actually used as something practical.A new technology that HAS to have it would work in order for it to rise significantly to some ungodly level.

    That is an interesting tidbit.

Note to self, go shoot down lots of planes and get gold coins. LOL

    Just kidding!
