This weekends challenge takes Photoshop to the next level.
Find a nice coin image from any auction house archive on the web. Heritage, ANR, Bowers, Goldbergs, etc...
No Ebay photos.
Post an image of the coin you chose against the icon you carved from it. And link the original coin -- this
creates a more equal playing field. I expect less entries on this thread...prove me wrong.
I'll start it out with a beautiful ANR photo,
(1782) Libertas Americana medal. Betts-615. Copper. MS-65 (NGC).

as was part of the challenge II deal)

I already had the images from Heritage originally........so I need to go out and find the links
Challenge II is about fresh material. I'm going to find another myself to post here.
From Heritage's virtual gallery
I didn't know TDN bought that medal. It figures though, he has great taste.
It's not the first TDN coin I've carved up. I have files filled with them
and for good measure....

Save the background for another post. This is a simple post, let me set it straight.

Boiler78, coinJP and KoinDawg got it.
<< <i>messydesk - what's with the walk on water background? You and kryptonitecomics are obsessed with background. >>
Couldn't leave well enough alone, I guess.

You will notice that I am including the original image and the cut version not on a background so I am meeting ....and exceeding your requirements with a little background flair

1877 50C Morgan Half Dollar, Judd-1519, Pollock-1683
This was my hardest one yet as it took me more hours then I care to admit

The rubber chicken!
Here's the coin I cut it out of
And here is the link to Bowers Link
Only, I confess, this was a 10 minute job using my new cheater technique Cheater technique

The main problem with cheats like this is they only work on coins with enough cameo contrast for it to work right. I did manage to figure out a technique to get rid of the little dots around the edges like I had on the Jefferson commemorative in Shylock's earlier thread where I first accidently discovered this technique.
