Dont Laugh at Me

I have a very limited budget, but the green light from my better half to spend a small amount on a card or two. Without posting the pics, I will tell you that the grades of each card is an accurate representation of the cards. I really need to choose 1 of the cards listed below, each having its own merits. If you could only choose one, what would you go for? I have no particular interest in any year, dont collect any particular player, etc... just love cards.

1975 Topps #145 Roger Staubach, PSA 9. Honest 9.
1961 Topps #360, Frank Robinson, PSA 8. Solid 8, but there are higher 8's out there.
1982 Donruss Diamond King Nolan Ryan, PSA 10.

Thanks for any input.

I would go give a pint of blood, collect the $20 or so and submit all 3!

To pick one of the three, I would go with Frank, since I'm into vintage baseball.

Welcome to the boards! I can relate to the budget, so don't feel like your the only one on here with small funds. That being said, I would take....

    1961 Topps #360, Frank Robinson, PSA 8.

    Looking for Carl Willey items.

1975 Topps #145 Roger Staubach, PSA 9. No question, and I dont even collect Football cards.
  • Definetly the Staubach. A clean PSA 9 Staubach is something that will continue to go up. Although Robinson is really one of the most underrated players of all time, he's still underrated and thats not going to change. I like the Diamond King series a lot too.

  • Staubach PSA 9. Classic card of a classic player. Every collection should have at least one Staubach--and I hate them Cowboys.

Eye appeal means a lot--if you feel there are better 8's out there than the Robby, skip it. Always go with eye appeal over the grade on the card.

The Ryan DK 10 would be sweet, but there haven't been that many submissions on the '82 Donruss (in comparison to 82 Topps), and it's only a matter of time before that PSA 10 population really starts rising.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)
  • Thanks for the advice guys.... looks like the Staubach is the winner. I had really narrowed it down to it and the Robinson, I figure there is still plenty of 82 donruss out there to be graded. Ive always had a struggle with lower grade vintage, like a 4 or 5 early 50s vs a 8 or 9 from the late 60's and 70's.

    Thanks
