Does anyone have a good idea for a handheld device for coin travels?

MrBreezeMrBreeze Posts: 1,036 ✭✭✭
I am wondering if anyone uses one of the handheld devices on the market, when they go to coins shops, shows, etc? Is there a device that I could put all of my research, inventory information, price information, etc., that I could use efficiently while browsing the tables or shows? I have all of my information in spreadsheet files. Any shared experience or ideas are much appreciated.

  • I use Palm One LIFEDRIVE with "Documents to Go". You can download a spreadsheet to it for quick easy reference. You can also download Access database tables, pdf files (i.e., GREYSHEET).

P.S. Palm One LIFEDRIVE has wireless access at hot spots, bluetooth technology, compact storage slot. Just no cell phone, camera, video, or other gadgets I don't need (like TREO).

  • I had a first gen Palm. It was fairly limited (no spreadsheet). But I'm sure the new Palm products are better, just haven't used one lately. Now I have a Dell Axim. Any handheld with WinCE and Pocket Excel can handle Excel spreadsheets natively. I regularly scrape the PCGS price guide for Morgans into a spreadsheet and take it with me. I keep everything on a 512M SD flash - plenty of room. It does wifi too so you can browse the web if you find a hot spot.

I am seriously considering a Garmin iQue. It's a fully functional PDA that is also a GPS navigation unit for driving. Seems like the best of both worlds but I'll have to research reviews first.
