The sky is falling

OK so just gold, silver, platinum, and palladium are falling. I was expecting a correction, but once news of inflation came out, I was expecting metals to rise again.

  • Everything seems illogical lately regarding how precious metals react to other economic factors. That's why I take any advice with a grain of salt.

In my opinion, logic went out with silver at $10 to $12. The rest of the run has been pure emotion, greed and fear, short covering-- people trying to be the hero and calling the top and then having to cover their *ss when the margin calls came in.

Again, these fast markets are not for me. Lots of money to be made, but only for the most nimble, and/or those on the right side of the bid/ask. I prefer to wait for the dust to settle and wait for a low risk entry point (and this is NOT one).

but once news of inflation came out, I was expecting metals to rise again

Inflation keeps pressure on the FED to keep raising rates. That supports the dollar and keeps a lid on metals.

That's fine and dandy but does SaintDennis know about this prediction?

Metals did not move up for the same reasons that a rising tide does NOT lifts all boats.

What correction? Generic gold held it's own even with gold falling $47.

Most $1 to $20 issues went UP this week. The few that didn't stayed the same or might have fallen 1%. $20 Libs in MS63 fell $10. Big deal. The 64's went up.

The $1's, $2-1/2's, $5's, $10's all pretty much went up. Looked like the smaller denoms finally got some attention. MS64 $1's Type 3 are up 10% this week......not bad for a correction. $5 LIbs in MS65 up 3%. Even MS65 Saints up 4% on CDN.

    Buy BUy BUY

    Maybe????????????

I wonder how many nasty emails the mint is getting from raising the rates on the gold.

Don't they notice what their price increase is doing to the market?
