The raw AU-55 sold for more than the PCGS AU-58 at a recent ANR sale

I was reviewing prices realized for the most recent ANR sale. Unlike Stack's auctions, 95% of ANR gold auction -lots are slabbed and most of those that are not are "problem" coins of one sort or another.
I could not help but notice that the raw AU-55 1839-O QE sold for $6325 (link) and the PCGS AU-58 1839-O QE sold for $5750 (link). I did not see either coin in person, but presumably those who did, favored the raw AU-55. The lesson for me is to avoid pre-conceived notions and judge each coin on its own merits.
I also realized that I entirely missed a raw lot (pictured below) on which I would have definitely bid had I realized it was offered. Again, even "lots", which are usually packed with garbage may be of interest and should not be dismissed without consideration.
