ANACS and Slabbing of the 1896-O, 1900-O, and 1902-O Micro-O Morgan Dollars

Well, a while back I saw and bid on some micro-O Morgans in ANACS slabs that were labelled as "Questionable Origin". I had two coins that I wanted slabbed that way for my complete set. I called to make sure they were still providing that service and they are not. I've got two 1896 and two 1900 micros in ANACS slabs and had two 1902 that I wanted to send in today. Guess they will have to remain raw. Does anyone know of a service that will still slab them? I just want them to be in slabs. I guess I can get CoinWorld "do-it-yourself" slabs. That way would save money anyway.
Thanks, Richard.
Thanks, Richard.

Sorry to hear that. I guess I am glad I called first to make sure they were doing it. Saved me forty dollars. What does yours grade? Do you have the others to go along with it?

SEGS also still slabs with grades and puts something like "undetermined origin" along with the VAM number on the holder.

<< <i>Now that they are recognized as fakes, are they still considered VAMs? Will future editions of the VAM book even include them? >>
I think the answer to that is yes, but someone may want to chime in an correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks.

Leroy has not deleted them from the VAM catalog, and I don't think he will. These are significant pieces that, while no longer considered genuine, are considered important by VAM collectors. If they are deleted, the VAM number will not be reused in order to avoid confusion, so they'd effectively stay in the catalog. I proposed to Leroy once that they be prefixed with a C to show that they've been determine to be counterfeit. I don't know if he'll do this or not.

1899-O Micro-Os are not fake. Can you provide a link to the auction?

Woops. Brain gas. I own two that are raw.
It wasn't an online auction. I was at the GSNA show in NJ today. I saw a lot of coins and was a bit overwhelmed. If you're in the area, I can tell you the general area of the dealer's table. The show goes for a couple more days. I actually saw at least a half dozen micro-O Morgans at the show.

I would think NOT......

I've been thinking. The coin I saw in the ANACS slab with the word "COUNTERFEIT" on the label... must have been a 1896-O. It had a four digit price tag. I'm a low-budget guy, so I just looked and walked away.
Sorry, I'm five hours from home and had to be in NJ for work today. I've been awake since yesterday morning. I head home tomorrow. If you need more info on this coin/slab, let me know. I might be able to swing back by the show tomorrow.
